i have been using mobil1 since I bought my RT. I want to say early SRT owners had to use mobil1 also as it was on the oil cal. not sure in later years

I am guessing you are asking weight = 0-40

With 98k on the motor, I would use whatever BRAND was used by the previous owner.
I bought my 2010 with 8k miles on it in 2018 and use Castrol in all my vehicles

I have used Mobil 1 0W-40 full synthetic oil in my 2009 SRT since it was new. Great oil and very reasonably priced (especially at Walmart).

It’s been years since I had a high-mileage car and back then the answer would be easy. Throw a high-mileage synthetic blend in it. End of story.
As I recall, your engine is supposed to use 5W-20 oil. If your car has MDS (I think it does), then you need to use the recommended oil or the MDS system will likely malfunction.
Without MDS, I would probably suggest using a “high-mileage” oil. They may not be the “ultimate” performer that your best full-synthetics are but they are likely better for your high-mileage engine.
I would be looking for an oil that is both if it’s possible.

    2010 SRT has a 6.1 and uses 0-40w

Also, the 6.1 SRT engine does not have MDS.

@LEGENDARY70 ... your car certainly left the factory with Mobil1. And as @70-426_10-SRT said, you're way out of warranty so you're free to use whatever you want. The important thing is to use a quality engine oil and filter and change both often.

I used Mobil1 almost exclusively in all of my vehicles from the early '90s until 2013. That's when we bought a 2013 Charger R/T and my Mopar Master Tech buddy suggested that I should consider switching to Pennzoil Platinum. While the OP's car doesn't have to worry about MDS, our Charger had MDS and I think that Pennzoil provides better protection at idle than Mobil1. (Though I do still use Mobil1 in my Mom's 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo LS (3.4V6))

One of my favorite YouTube rabbit hole content providers, Project Farm, took a look at popular brand name oils not too long ago. Here's the link:

Sorry, thought he mentioned he had a 5.7
In that case, I’d definitely explore a “high-mileage” oil.
