A lot of the sales of the SRT and Scat Pack Challengers have been fueled by baby boomers who had Challengers back in the 1970s. In the future, I don't know how much attachment younger buyers will have to a retro-designed model.

The Challenger sells in pretty small numbers and has been trending down in recent years. The Charger, which is not a retro-design sells quite a bit better, no doubt due to it having four doors, has also been trending down. That being said, it’s possible that the Challenger might be able to survive a redesign even if it departs from the retro look. Most Challenger and Charger drivers I see are on the younger side. Definitely not “Boomers”, so it’s possible that a new design that retains the aggressive looks and offers strong performance might survive. I doubt it would retain the older demographic since it would likely be much smaller etc so my current one is likely my last one.

The real question is, will there be a 4th gen Challenger and if so, when will it arrive?
Speculation is that the new car will arrive in 2023 but that was before the whole Stellantis thing. Again, speculation had been that FCA would likely continue the current generation car for some time while also producing the 4th gen car. While this might seem odd, it’s not without precedent. It’s been done with both the Jeep Wrangler and Ram pickup. As long as sales of the 3rd gen cars remain strong, they’re likely to squeeze every buck they can out of them. I’m just hoping they don’t repeat their mistake of the 2nd gen.

What? You don't like rice burners?

If that's the case, you may want to use the attachment.

I have no problem with “rice-burners”. Even if I did, it wouldn’t be an issue since Stellantis has nothing that would qualify as a “rice-burner”. I’m just concerned that they could put the Challenger name on a slightly reworked European coupe because that’s all they have. Face it, considering the rather low volume the car would be, I doubt they’re going to develop an all new car. I’m hoping Dodge has something in their vault that nobody knows about.

Not exactly apples to apples but it's like what GM/Pontiac did bringing back the GTO in 2003-6 using the Aussie Holden. Damn car looked like an overweight Cavalier.

Yeah, that sure was an unpopular car overall. Pontiac really went downhill after the last of the F-bodies in 2002. The performance was fine in the GTO with the LS engines but that was about it. On the GM forums these days I am hearing about some parts being very difficult to obtain. It happens to many discontinued models but it's not a good thing.

All true but the last gen GTO’s are bringing big bucks these days.
