No car wash for my car....I don't even put a hose to it.

It's funny how careful we are with our Challengers. Back in the original muscle car era, they were just cars.

I got news for you, they’re still just cars. Pretty much every forum I’ve ever joined had a percentage of their membership that treated their cars like fine collectibles. To each his own I suppose. For me, my cars are always something I take great pride in, and I try to keep them looking their best. But, I won’t have a coronary if they get a scratch or chip here and there. Normal wear and tear I say, because I drive them. Cars are meant to be driven, not locked up and looked at like some kind of museum piece. So, yeah, I take mine to the local brushless car wash and wax them a couple times a year.

I hand-wash mine. To a small degree to reduce the chance of scratches. But mostly because I'm one frugal (cheap) sob.

^^^ Even if a car wash was offered for free I would not use it. Hand wash only!! All 3 of my rides. I just hope my health allows for it as time goes on. Some folks just can't do it. No choice.

** Even during vacations I ask the desk clerks or housekeeping to give me old towels for the car as I don't want to ruin their guest towels. I have my own bucket and the cleaning ritual is done at the start of each vacation day when needed instead of finding a car wash that would probably just lead to frustration and even scratches. Of course I get the other guests asking me if they are next. :buffer:

Perhaps to some folks but not the crowd I hung with. We could not afford new cars back then but we sure had pride in the used muscle we owned. Washing, waxing and improving our rides all year long in Florida was the most important part of our existence, well besides the babes. Let's be honest :boobs:

What I meant was that these original muscle cars were not treated a collectibles or garage queens. They were driven on a daily basis.

I hit my baby with water - dry w/air blower - hand wash using Aero Concepts Wash/Wax. For waxing, I use Collinite 845 Insulator Wax. For water staining, I use either Collinite 415 Pre-Wax Cleaner or Griot's Complete Polish. I never use a buffer for waxing... Hand wax only. Tradition. ;)

In a pinch, I'd use a drive-through. Brushless... Not gonna happen. Too much water pressure. btw... If anyone is looking for a good quality, low-cost rechargeable buffer...

When I was a kid, my car was parked outside and my bike was in the garage. They seldom ran at the same time as I recall. There was always something broke on one of them. Car washes were few and far between and they had brushes that definitely did ruin the finish. So I don’t recall any of us taking our cars to car washes. There also weren’t a whole lot of options regarding waxes/polishes so most of us spent a lot of time waxing our cars too. And polishing the chrome! Something the young guys don’t know anything about!

When I was probably 10 or 11 my Dad came up with a great incentive to get me to wash his car. I got to drive it from the driveway to the backyard. And then after it was washed, I got to drive it around the block and pull it back into the driveway.

Let's just say that his car stayed really, really clean.
