Sound Tube?

    Thank you.
    So after looking at this it would seem wise to remove the hose from the engine side and cap it off during oil fill. Then reattach when complete.

    That's really not necessary. Just pour the oil in one quart at a time and you won't have any problems.

    The problem seems to happen at dealerships and/or quick-change places where they're pumping the oil in to speed up the process.

    It is part of the PCV system. Some people actually connect oil catch cans on the left side.
