I look at E-Vehicles from multiple angles. Naturally there is the actual operations of the vehicle where range limitations and weight increases hurt the overall performance and enjoyment of a vehicle. 1000 lbs of batteries isn't good for handling. And although manufacturers claim outstanding range, much like EPA fuel economy claims, it all depends on how you drive. Turn on the AC at 100F or the heater at 0F and things change dramatically. It takes a LOT of energy to heat a car in winter.
But on other notes, there are huge envronmental impacts for producing EV's. There are large amount of precious metals, rare earth elements especially in the motors, and lithium/cobalt for the battery. All told, you need to move over 1 million tons of earth to produce one EV battery, and that will only get worse as demand for raw materials for EV's increases. This is an ecological disaster in the making. Then there is the fact that EV's driven normally, which means mostly aggressively, do not lower emissions more than a gasoline vehicle in those states that don't have hydro or nuclear power as thier predominant source of power.
There there is access to charging stations. You can do it at home, but it takes hours at 110V to charge a 90 kW-h battery. That requires 27.27 hours at 110V and 30 amp, the average current available from an electric outlet at home. And who wants to go to a remote Tesla Quick Charge station, wait in line and then wait over an hour for maybe a 1/4 charge to your battery. This happened in California during the Thankgiving Weekend in 2019 in Coalinga (i believe). I will not change my 10 minute refuel time which can be done anywhere at any time for an EV that is highly limited. And remember, the government (meaning you) are paying for the new charging stations, not the businesses that benefit from them.

41,000 EV Charging stations (5K fast chargers)
    115,000 Gas stations

So 1/3 EV chargers. I would have thought a lot less.

^^^ I think you are a little light in the number of gas stations in the US. I just 'cut & pasted' this from Google.

"The NACS, the association for convenience and fuel retailing, reports that there are more than 150,000 fueling stations across the United States. 127,588 of these stations are convenience stores selling fuel."

    .. and this from fueleconomy.gov

"How many gas stations are there in the U.S? 168,000 There are 168,000 retail locations in the U.S. that sell fuel to the public."

I certainly agree that I thought there were way less E/V charging stations than this
. The majority must be in CA. I know there is ONE that I see here in my small town. It sits in a grocery store parking lot and I have yet to see it being used. I imagine the idea is to hook up your car, go shopping, and hope the car is charged by then.

Another interesting thought about an electric Challenger or any electric car for that matter. I looked on Google and finding answers is like finding support for Obamacare at a Trump rally. :badidea:

Scenario: My wife and I head to Disney World or any attraction in Orlando in our electric Challenger and we get stuck in one of those nasty I-4 traffic jams with a few accidents thrown in. It's 90+ degrees outside and a/c is actually imperative for us at this point in our lives. Let's say our battery is 50 or 60% charged when we hit this tie-up. If the traffic jam lasts 3+ hours, are we going to lose our a/c?? I did learn that electric cars use very little energy when in traffic but the a/c has to run on something, and for those that know FL heat in the summer, is the a/c going to cut it or will the power be exhausted in no time at all?? Let's not even think of running out of juice on the interstate and further compounding the traffic jam. As I've read elsewhere, you can't run down to the local store and bring back 5 gallons of electricity.

There are so many Scenarios why this is a :badidea:

But yes, 5 gallons of electricity is the biggest for me, living 30 mile from town.
I can barely afford our electricity as it is, and you want me to "Charge my Car" overnight? :buttkick:
Is AAA going to have "Quick Chargers" on their Tow Trucks?

This could be good for generator companies as everyone is going to have to buy one for sure now for when the power goes out after the grid is maxed out.
