I discovered that coveranything is having a huge car cover sale. I bought their best 5-layer exterior cover for only $149 (normally $598). It also came with a cable, lock, 10-year warranty and free shipping.

You talked me into ordering one. Have you got yours yet? How long does it take for them to ship?

I received it yesterday- 9 days.

The only thing to note is that it does not have pockets for the mirrors. However, the cover has very positive reviews from car owners.

Never used a car cover before. Will be used under a very large open carport. In the sticks, so dust from the fields get a car dirty in a couple of days. Reason I haven't bought one in the past is the fear that wind blowing the cover would rub the paint (especially corners). Is that a real concern?

Have you considered just closing in the carport? There are lotsa cheap materials to do that.

If you keep your car clean and use a high quality car cover, there will be little or no paint issues. Unfortunately, I do not have a garage and have been using car covers for the past 13 years. After all of that time there are only a few minor blemishes of the clearcoat. These are only visible to me. This is a small price to pay to protect my paint from the sun. Here are a few photos of my 2009 SRT.

Also, think of all the interior/dash damage he has avoided by having that relatively-pale cover blocking the sun! Not to mention the sap/bird souvenirs/whatever else he has avoided being able to access his paint!

I have wondered, though, what do you do if it rains while the cover is deployed? Do you carry a tub with the car to put the folded up moist car cover in?

Also, do you put the car cover on when parked in a mall, etc?

Built it open on purpose. Very humid area and wanted the air flow. Also, wife wanted it open to see around it when she drove up (Live in the country, no neighbors close and don't want any surprises). Just didn't expect cars to get so dirty under it. Sucks when a clean car is dirty in a week or two without driving it. 28'X40' car port.

how about those glass louvers popular in Hawaii for the side and back walls? Having three sides covered with the option to just flip the lever that opens a set of them would give you as much visibility and airflow as you wanted, for pretty cheap. With three sides blocked, the front would be less of a problem, as the air would not be flowing through the garage, depositing fresh dirt all the time.

Also, plenty of LED yard lights, too.
