I marvel anyone would keep the Pirelli Greaseball tires on his car unless he hates emergency traction. Pirellis are known to be among the best for ANY CAR OTHER THAN THE CHALLENGER, but the tires of the size they excreted on Dodge for the Challengers have proven to be among the worst in the history of mankind. It is like they intentionally dumped their garbage bins out to find raw material for the tires. Look on as many online forums as you can find. Count up the ratio of "Boy, Do the Pirelli tires for the Challenger ever suck" threads versus the "Oh, boy, are those factory Pirellis ever the greatest tires ever" threads (as in zero threads of the latter type.) I do not recognize that color as having been offered by Dodge for the Challenger. Is it maybe a Factory Reproductions wheel? It's a nice color.
Pirellis were chosen for the Challenger and Charger to keep up the smoking tire image of all adds pertaining to these cars. With the small width of the 245 and 255 you can smoke them for a couple of miles to Look impressive! My SRT10 came with Priellis and I could smoke them all the way through 4th gear and squeeze them in 5thgear. My Challenger SRT8 came with them and I could melt them, when they were worn out i went with another brand and they will bite in and you can pull off the line .
They don't look exactly like polished aluminum, which is more reflective than chromium. I used to marvel at photos of polished aluminum in Hot Rod magazine etc, as it looked somehow brighter and/or whiter than the chrome. In fact, I got to where I could recognize the difference on sight from the very-high-quality pictures provided (largely) by Gray Baskerville between chrome and polished aluminum. Some giant reflector telescope on some mountain in Chile has its reflective surface replaced every so often. I believe it is a thin coating of aluminum that they remove then replace every so often as it weathers. Chrome is not used. That same process (vacuum deposition) is used to put chromium on plastic pieces, such as the "chrome" parts of plastic scaled model kits. However, I do not know the exact process whereby an in-situ 10 meter telescope is re-coated. Chromium, however, is THE hardest metallic element. Harder than tungsten, nickel, gold, whatever.
