I've had this brewing in my head for a bit but couldn't find a good answer anywhere. My front pad/ rotors always wear to the edge of the rotor but the rear has around 3/8 to 1/2 on outer edge that doesn't get worn by the pad. I've seen a lot of daily drivers look the same as mine I just am unsure why. Is it the front rear bias? Are the pads different sizes? Or is it the front and rear calipers are different? I'm still on stock pads and rotors at 23k miles. My car has the 4 piston brembos.

I read something about there was a issue of squeaking back brakes so they changed the pad up a little bit. Somebody else can fill in more information but that’s what I heard.
