Watch this interesting AI Daytona 500 race.

It pits a 1970 Plymouth Superbird vs. a 2025 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. The Mustang has 170 more horsepower and 53 years of technology in its favor. However, the Superbird is 121 lbs. lighter, has 68 more cubic inches, has 10 mph more of top speed and has the edge in aerodynamics.

    Which car would win?

    Here are the car specs:

    1970 Plymouth Superbird

    Horsepower- 500
    Top Speed- 202 mph
    Weight- 3,197 lbs.
    Engine- 7.0 L (426)

    2025 Ford Mustang Dark Horse

    Horsepower- 670
    Top Speed- 192 mph
    Weight- 3,318 lbs.
    Engine- 5.8 L (358)

Kyle Petty takes his Dad's restored 1970 Superbird for a test drive. Sounds great!

the dodge daytona was actually faster than the bird and of-coarse more aero, but IMO the bird was much better looking.

You're right. A Superbird has a .31 coefficient of drag while a Daytona’s drag coefficient is .29- about a 20% increase in aerodynamic efficiency over the standard Charger. On the high banks of Daytona and Talladega, this gave the Daytona an advantage of somewhere between 1–3 mph over the Superbird, which was significant in competition, and especially so over the course of a 500 mile race.

the Daytona won the championship in 1970 driven by bobby Isaac in the K&K dodge out of fort wayne indiana , i was fortunate to have seen those cars in action back in the day. and visit with them in the pits also.like i said in the past every plymouth and dodge dealer either had the chance to order one or chrysler sent the dealer what ever they wanted too. we were one of those dealers below is the the car we received.

    Do you remember if it had a 440, 440-6 or 426? I would guess a 440.
