How many of you guys have installed a retro-style MOPAR T-shift handle on your
    Challenger?

I have one on my 2009 SRT and really like it. It reminds me of the one I had on my 1971 'Cuda- only better.

What did the one you replaced look like? Mine had the T-handle when I bought it.

It was nothing special- just a stitched leather knob with a chrome base.

The fastening screw used in 71 sure was primitive.

I know. Wouldn't you, at least, think they could have used something other than cheap plastic?

I had to replace mine because it cracked.

Was there not a set screw fastening that 71 handle originally (I recall a set screw being used on other auto shift handles in that time period)?

Yes. The 1971 Slap-Stick shifter had a black set screw.

These are cleaner and less conspicuous but not suitable for every application.

How much effort to install the new one?

It is very easy to install the metal MOPAR T-handle shifter. It is a 3-minute job. Watch the following video. Start at the 2:15 minute mark.

It is very high quality and is a great interior mod. The price, however, has really gone up over the years. It now sells for $225.

A cheap alternative (not recommended) is a blue zinc-alloy knock-off that you can buy on Amazon for $20. Due to copyrights, it is plain (i.e., no MOPAR or MOPAR emblem on the handle).
