he August 2016 issue of Automobile ran an article entitled, "Future Cars."

The article contains photos of the new 2019 Challenger and a 'Cuda convertible! See below.

The new lighter models will share a rear-wheel drive platform with the Alfa Romeo Giulia and will continue to offer a V6 and Hemi engines (including a 750 hp Hellcat). According to the article, "the plan is for Dodge to be the all-American, value-priced alternative to Alfa Romeo, which is targeting BMW. The cautionary note is that since "FCA has delayed the launch of the Alfa Giulia, the Challenger may be delayed as well. Also, looming are the 2025 Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. With Jeep and RAM accounting for 62% of FCA's U.S. sales, Marchionne might have some hard product decisions ahead."

The power-to-weight of these lighter cars should be a big performance advantage.

If these are how the 2019s will look, are you happy? I think that the new Challenger's chopped roofline looks more like a Camaro. Also, I would like to see more styling cues from the 1971 'Cuda, like the front fender "gills."

    I'm glad I have my retro-inspired 2009 SRT.

They look fine, but I'll be thrilled if the company simply survives until 2019, the way Marchionne is running it. The Italians should never be accused of understanding the American market in general, or modern American muscle cars in particular. Huge/heavy and fast just won't cut it anymore. These cars will need to lose around 500 lbs if they want to compete with Mustang and Camaro. That's a very tall order...

I share your concern. We've had a great experience with Dodge and Jeep over the past 17 years. My first car was a '68 Charger R/T. Hope it survives.

FCA has Dodge down to two cars - Challenger and Charger and Chrysler is down to one car - the 300.

Dealers don't even get a chance at the mid-size market since FCA killed Dart and 200.

Nor do they get a shot at the resurgent mid-size truck market without a Dakota replacement.

Also won't help that they killed of Viper. People like to think there's a little something learned from Viper in their mini-van.

We all know when they come out with the Cuda it's not going to look like the concept. I hope they do come out with the barracuda as it would be cool to see another challenger type car from dodge. Will they? Who knows.

I think if you like a muscle car you better get one now before they become regulated out of existence.

Got to love the government getting their hands into everything. I hope it never happens.
