Hennessey’s newly established Hennessey Special Operations (HSO) has built a 1,700 hp. Demon. The 7.2-liter (439 cubic inch) HEMI is fitted with a bespoke twin-turbocharger system. According to Hennessey, the powerplant was specifically engineered for this program and required extensive development, testing, calibration, and validation. The setup utilizes massive Precision turbochargers, upgraded fuel delivery systems, reinforced internal components, and specialized engine tuning designed to withstand enormous boost pressure. The engineering effort was substantial. Hennessey says the engine alone represents roughly a $100,000 investment before installation. During dyno testing, the Demon 1700 generated 1,202 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels with approximately 23 pounds of boost pressure.
