Hi, I put down $5,000 for my Challenger in February and the price was $62,800 now the car comes in and the dealer tells me the sticker went up and it’s $66,815. My question is can I hold them accountable to the $62,800. Thanks.
Tell em you want your deposit back and stuff the deal up their ass. Then see if they have a change of attitude.
Where I live I can file a small claims action for $150 and represent myself. I'd consider purchasing the vehicle then filing one. It's a significant amount of money and these courts are designed to be helpful with consumer unfairness.
What you can do about it depends on whether you signed a purchase order or a deposit. With a deposit, the final price isn’t carved in stone, so if the price changes before the dealer gets the car, the buyer doesn’t have a signed contract and has to pay whatever the price is at that time. But a purchase order is a binding contract that the dealership has to honor. If a dealership tries to get more money for the car than what the purchase order says, that may be a breach of contract. In this case, the first thing you can do is hold firm and tell the dealership that you have a signed contract and threaten to walk. However, the problem right now is there aren’t a lot of car models sitting on dealer lots, which makes it more difficult to walk away and gives the dealership the upper hand- but that doesn’t mean you have to accept the additional charges. If the dealership holds firm on the price adjustment, let the car manufacturer know because they don’t want their dealers creating a bad experience for their customers. Manufacturers are in the business of selling cars and creating customer loyalty. If the dealership does agree to remove the price adjustment, watch out for the upsell on things like an extended warranty, nitrogen-filled tires, seat stain protection, or rust protection. If the price on the vehicle stays the same, they might try to tack on items that you don’t necessarily need, or even force you to purchase them, which may also be prohibited by law.
You’re out of luck Dealers are independent I was told. Get your deposit back. If you want to proceed then get a lawyer and see what the dealer will do If you do get the car seek out a different dealer for service Went through the same years ago and couldn’t do anything because it was signed by salesman not manger. What did I know. They took me out of buying from another and figured I waited so long that I would just take it. I didn’t. Still today I wanted that car. 1980 Grand Prix LJ Dealers I just read. Ford sold cars that people ordered Maverick under them because they sold for more money. They made up some BS story and told them to reorder with extra discount but that doesn’t answer What they did to a customer If you have a signed deal from sales manger. Not salesman then go in and nicely. Be professional always and tell them if they don’t sell the car at the agreed price they will be contacted by your attorney which you need to follow through I would also add that if they sell the car under you between now and attorney contact then they will need to address that issue as well it’s all up to you and how far you want to take this
I would just dump Dodge from the get go. If you can get anything out of this then go for it. But consider this that if getting this particuliar Challenger is so difficult, how bad will be getting it serviced and warranty work done as time goes on? You will have to deal with this devil sooner or later as we know there are going to be issues with this vehicle as Dodge is not known for reliability and low maintenance. Also since the current marketing ploy going on this information is from the top from the Dodge manufacturer and not just dealership, all they are doing is trying to get the most $$$ till they suck the left over parts bin dry and marking whatever car left as "limited" It's bad enough that you are getting a vehicle that is poorly assembled and you will see this from others that have a few years on them as they fall apart. If everything is marked as such "LIMITED" then there is nothing to differentiate these cars from each other and they are no longer special as Dodge continues to push what lefter over parts they have until the well is dry. After it is all said and finally done/gone with this discontinued Challenger platform where are you going to get parts to keep this car alive before it falls apart from day one? These are not well put together and have tons of problems that are always "NORMAL" at least that is what the servicing stealership will tell you. So you end right back where you started from retaining an attorney or going for the LEMON law dealing with the same again right back where you started from the stealership ripping you off before even selling you a discontinued product. In the sale of all consumer products when an item is DISCONTINUED the $PRICE$ is lowered to clear them out. Think about that for a second Top Dodge management is doing the opposite of this. If you can't get anywere from the $5,000 you put down and a refund I would just tell them and RUN not walk away with what you started with getting your deposit back. Then go down to FORD and get yourself a higher performance vehicle with more choices, better price with NO TIME LINE as well as you won't have to worry about it getting stolen for commiting crimes from the thugs who are using these Challengers/Chargers as their of choice. I wouldn't want to deal with that anxiety just in that respect but only to top it off again with having to get your new vehicle serviced at the stealership when you need that WARRANTY WORK DONE which is what they will deny to to TELL YOU it's "Normal" as you are just asking for problems.that go on forever Run down to Ford and check it out: This will outperform the Challenger you are trying to purchase from the devil https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1140297_2024-ford-mustang-gt-test-drive-review https://www.motorauthority.com/news...mustang-doesn-t-have-to-be-the-last-says-ford https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1140364_2024-ford-mustang-dark-horse-test-drive-review
