Unfortunately I think this EV push is designed to get you into a constant monthly payment cycle that will never end. These car have batteries which seem to die right after the warranty is up and they are all 5 figure replacement costs from everything I've read. So most people will make the decision to either lease their car and never have to deal with the battery issue or just buy a new car every few years. The rest of us- tough. I have a feeling this EV Charger is going to have all the features and different speed modes already baked into them. How do you access these features you say? Why you pay a monthly subscription cost! You like having your seat warm up that's $23 a month (search BMW). You like the steering wheel heater option- that's $15 a month, on and on. You want "ludicrous" mode- well that's a 10k initial charge and another $259 a month to keep it. In terms of a used car industry there won't be one. The battery is 90% of the cars worth so most people aren't going to make a gamble on something that may become a brick in short order. The only parts are electric motors, the massive battery and miles and miles or coolant lines, electrical connections, modules and computer systems. They are already (Ford) trying to lock down the ECU to prevent hacking (lol). They don't want you working on your own car and basically there's not much to fix when the whole car is a rolling battery anyway. Sure they will let you change your brake pads and tires, maybe, if it doesn't invalidate the warranty. Now all of this benefits the car industry. Every piece of it is meant to separate you from the money in your wallet and if you haven't realized by now this all has absolutely zero to do with the environment and everything to do with connected people getting rich, companies like Government Motors getting richer and all of us getting crap.

Don't worry there will be ICE cars for a little while longer. There will be the variables for a lot of us, like which is more cost effective to run, reliability, going on a road trip and all the unknowns. There is a reason the electricity rates are going up, guess who's paying for all the needed infrastructure on our electric grids.

The December 2022 issue of Motor Trend had an article entitled, "Dodge's Electrified Charger Daytona SRT and Hornet."

Most of the information is already known, but there were the following six tidbits:

    • The air intakes around the front and rear fascias, that create air currents for better aerodynamics, are carbon-fiber.
    • The amplified and tuned "Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust" produces 126 decibels of sound- the same as a Hellcat.
    • The multispeed transmission, with electro-mechanical shifting, is dubbed "eRupt."
    • Six additional power levels, other than the three stock, will be available from authorized dealers under Direct Connection. They will all be covered under factory warranty.
    • A Power-Shot push-to-pass feature will be provided on the steering wheel to deliver an extra 25 hp. for a few seconds.
    • Battery sizes will range from 101 to 118 kWh.

Note- Dodge is really coming out with a lot of catchy names, like Banshee, e-Rupt, Power-Shot and Fratzonic.

Mopar Insiders had some information about the new Charger Daytona models.

It will come with four trim levels:

Charger Daytona GT- This entry level model is expected to produce 340 kW (455 horsepower) from a dual e-motor setup. That car should feature a more budget-friendly interior with cloth seats and a smaller 10.25-inch touchscreen, all to keep the cost of the Charger Daytona down.

Charger Daytona R/T- This model should use the same powertrain layout but feature a more luxurious interior with leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a bigger touchscreen, better materials, and even a sporty exterior with the addition of a standard rear spoiler.

Charger Daytona Scat Pack- It will also receive a dual e-motor setup but will instead feature 440 kW (590 horsepower) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) as standard equipment. The Scat Pack model should offer both cloth and leather interior options, the bigger 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen allowing the driver to see the latest Performance Pages, a more sporty steering wheel design, and a more bolstered seat design.

Charger Daytona SRT Banshee- It will feature 800-volt electrical architecture. However, it isn’t scheduled to start production until early 2025.

We have all heard about the chambered exhaust sound on the new electric Charger Banshee. Now Stellantis has come up with engine vibrations to mimic an ICE. Here is the description:

"The ASE system is at the forefront of Stellantis’ mission to make EVs more appealing and accessible to a broader audience. It addresses a common concern with EVs: their near-silent operation, which can pose safety challenges for pedestrians. To overcome this, Stellantis engineers have developed a system that not only replicates the authentic engine sounds of ICE vehicles but also simulates the tactile sensations of driving one. At its core, the ASE system utilizes a sophisticated setup that combines sensor technology with advanced signal processing. Sensors strategically placed throughout the vehicle monitor various parameters such as motor speed, acceleration, wheel speed, and torque. This real-time data is then fed to a central controller, which orchestrates the generation of engine sounds tailored to the driving conditions. However, Stellantis goes beyond just recreating sound. They recognize that the driving experience is multi-sensory, which is why they’ve integrated the Active Vibration Enhancement (AVE) system alongside ASE. AVE complements ASE by generating vibrations within the vehicle’s structure that mimic those produced by an ICE engine. These vibrations, transmitted through the vehicle body to the occupants, create a sensation akin to driving a traditional sports/muscle car."

Dodge has resurrected a famous name from the past- the SIX PACK.

In 2025, it will offer a SIX PACK coupe featuring the high-output (H/O) inline 6 Hurricane engine, boasting a formidable 550 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque on premium 91 octane. It will also offer a 4-door sedan standard-output (S/O) Hurricane engine delivering 420 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque on 89 octane fuel. Both models are AWD.
