The Summer 2025 edition of Motor Trend was dominated by EV reviews.

In one article it featured an EV with the fastest 0-60 mph time ever recorded by Motor Trend in its 76 years. The 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach was the first production car to run 0-60 mph in less than 2 seconds- actually 1.89 seconds! It also does the 1/4 mile in 9.2 sec. @150.1 mph. These were the time the top Pro Stock guys were turning in the 70s. How much for this performance- $231,995.

Other EVs were also extremely fast:

    20021 Tesla Model S Plaid- 2.1 sec. and 9.3 sec. @152.2 mph
2024 Lucid Air Sapphire- 2.2 sec. and 9.3 sec. @156.0 mph
    2025 Rivian R1T Quad Ascend- 2.5 sec. and 10.4 sec. @128.6 mph
2024 Tesla Cybertruck- 2.5 sec. and 11.0 sec. @113.7 mph
2025 Rivian R1S Quad Max Ascend- 2.6 sec. and 10.5 sec. @128.2 mph
    Hyundai Ioniq 5 N- 2.8 sec. and 11.0 sec. @124.9 mph
    2022 Audi RS E-Tron GT- 2.9 sec. and 10.9 sec. @129.0 mph
    2022 GMC Hummer Edition 1- 3.0 sec. and 11.7 sec. @105.4 mph

What I found interesting was that the curb weights of the Tesla, Lucid, Hyundai and Audi ranged from 4,800 lbs. to 5,300 lbs. So, why does the Charger Daytona weigh a hefty 5,916 lbs.?

I would like to see a Two Lane Blacktop-style race across the USA. I could defeat an electric car with a diesel Volkswagen.

[Edit] I could defeat any electric car in existence, from the hyperars to the small "economy" EV's with a diesel Jetta. While they have to stop to charge for what, about two hours for every hour of drive time? I would have to fill up once or twice, putt-putting along at exactly the speed limit. My fill-up time to drive time ratio would be minutes of fueling compared to HOURS of driving.

I have done the math on this. It is quite laughable. I am surprised the government has not had enforced EV Pride Parades in every major city to force people at gunpoint to "celebrate" the wonders of EV's that fill the politician's pockets with millions of dollars in kickbacks. It would be as organic and natural as when they told black people that they worshiped George Floyd, one of the worst criminals ever. (Who else have you ever heard of that held a gun to a pregnant woman's belly to force her to tell him where the drugs/cash/whatever were that she had in the house?

It's about as organic as Englishmen being told their national hero was Jack the Ripper, and a "protest movement" "springing up" in support of that monster.

Politics. Where people with money get to excrete what they want on the faces of the people and bill them for the "privilege." THAT is the entire EV "movement."
