Check out this video about how to professionally wash you car. It is one of the best "how to do" videos that I've seen. How To Wash Your Car: Two Bucket Method with Meguiar's - YouTube
Guess I have been lazy. Duh, washing the tires first makes sense, but only if you have a tire bucket. The grit guard is a nice invention. The two bucket system makes the most sense. So often when I am 90% done and look in my pail only to see it black as night. And then to put the mit back on the car? Looks like I'll be doing some changes this coming summer.
And I have been doing it wrong. Don't worry, I'll change, but that means bringing up and extra bucket of water up from the basement.
I never thought of washing wheels first. I always thought to save the dirtiest part until the end to save the amount of dirt in the water. I always wash the car, dry it, then wash the wheels taking extra care when rinsing to not get the car wet again. I don't mind drying the car a bit more.
