I actually did take my 145 hp. car to the track once. My best 1/4 mile time was 18.18 sec. @ 75.13 mph. I thought that my racing decals and glass-pack muffler would have helped to produce a quicker time, however.

Also, my 0-60 mph time was a blazing 11 seconds!

By the way, Chrysler had a competition Hyper Pak available. It was a parts package made available from 1960 through 1962 at dealer parts counters. The parts were made available to comply with the regulations of sanctioning bodies for racing events in which Valiants had been entered by factory-backed teams: All parts used had to be "stock" parts, the definition of which meant that they were available through normal factory parts channels. The Hyper Pak consisted of a very-long-ram intake manifold meant to accept a Carter 4-barrel carburetor, cast iron exhaust headers, a large-diameter exhaust Y-pipe to connect to these dual cast-iron headers, a larger muffler, a 276°-duration camshaft, with appropriate valve springs and pushrods, a heavier-duty clutch, and high-compression 10.5 pistons.

In competition events, 225s with this package proved unbeatable. Seven factory-backed Valiants entered the 1960 NASCAR compact car race at Daytona Beach and humbled the competition.

I know you are kidding, but I am never selling my SRT. My wife convinced me to sell my 1971 'Cuda 340. I will not make the same mistake twice!

That's almost as quick as a stock 92 vette with 300hp and much quicker than a 75 Duster 360 with 230hp both of which I experienced lot's of fun with.

my shelby had a lot of work done and could have ran legal in stock class with a few items taken off. it had everything that direct connection offered at the time and the car weighed around 2300 lbs lighten up , when raced i removed the a/c belts too. if anybody has one and would like to have a list of parts used i would gladly post them. for the normal person it would be very expensive , unless you had a mopar dealer parts room at your disposal and parts at cost. it was a very impressive car for 1983. and handled like my racing go cart. just a fun little car and it fooled a lot of v8's .

I had a 1982 2.2. The wife hated it because it was a stick shift. Made me sell it two years later because she couldn't learn to shift.
Well in another year got rid of her, (divorce). Always liked the car. Now trying to find a Rampage.
