Hey Sexy blue, it is illegal to intentionally turn off your Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as it is considered a mandatory safety feature in most vehicles, meaning disabling it would violate federal regulations in the US; essentially, you cannot legally deactivate your TPMS system. Just so you know, one of my competitors did that a few years ago and paid a hefty fine. Since I own a tire and automotive business, I deal with a lot of tire sensors as you probably know. I do not know how your state of NY does their things? I would keep that to yourself.

Its 2006, they were not mandated till Sept 2007. They are dumb sensors that tell you that you have a low tire some where and nothing else. It actually passed NYS inspection with the Check TPM system error, and that's an OBD type of inspection.

Now don't get me started, or I might tell you about the Hot Tune, and TCM tune, I have in my little Jeep Liberty diesel. ;)

Once the DOGE comes in, hopefully those regs will be history. They are already talking about getting rid of NHTSA, and the EPA.
