Isn’t the bad camshaft issue related to faulty lifters wearing the cams out? I have read the rollers seize and wear out the cam lobe.
Yes, that is exactly what is happening. it also happens on 6.4l with MDS. a slight ticking is normal for all the 5.7L and 6.4L engines. that is why they have so many covers to dampen noises. you will hear some from the injectors, and roller lifters tend to be noisey. if you have a ticking noise that is exceptionally loud, you have a problem. if it's a little noisey, it's loose and happy.
I have had situations when you drove normally the car would run smooth, as soon as you punched it and came back down to an idle it would start misfiring. we usually get them when the CEL is already on and the engine is misfiring. most people aren't as in tune with their cars as the people i meet on the forums.
Not that common a problem and if they decide to do anything about it they will probably just extend the warranty on them, like the left side 3.6L cylinder heads.
It's funny that you guys are saying this stuff. When I was looking for a '15, I actually walked away for from one brand new on the lot because of ticking. The salesman just stood there and shook his head. I did buy another '15 and it does tick when first starting for a bit. Changed oil to Valvoline synthetic and still have just a little tick now. Just turned 8700 mile. Pretty sure it's just a Hemi 5.7 thing.
