    Here's a video illustrating the amount of blow-by an oil catch can collects, on a 6.4 Hemi, after 5,500 miles.

    There are some car manufacturers that include them as OEM but have them set up so it drains the oil back to the sump.

    Actually, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system hasn't been around that long(compared to me ;-)) anyway.)
    Early 60's I believe.

    I think I'll be putting one on my Challenger when I get it out of storage in April.

    Yes, prior to that time, there was a simple oil breather cap on top of the valve cover. It just
    vented the fumes into the air. With the advent of environmental laws, this was not allowed, so the PCV system was developed.

    Anyone remember the old "vent tubes" that routed the blow by down a tube to just below the oil pan? I remember as a kid having to side step all the oil puddles in all the parking lots. I swear every space had an oil spot.

    Yup, dad's truck was one of them. lol
