    Still confused about the question
    as the Filler Cap has:
"Use Mobile-1 0-40wt" printed right on it?

That's correct. Dodge switched from Mobil1 to Pennzoil somewhere around 2012 ... I think 2013 might have been the first full model year for Pennzoil. (I guess the memory really is the first thing to go.)

Some say the switch to Pennzoil was merely a marketing move based on money.

Some say the switch to Pennzoil was due to engineers looking for an oil that provides better protection at idle.

I also use both Pennzoil and Mobil1.

My 2015 Challenger SRT 392 gets Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40

    Our 2017 Durango R/T 345 gets Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20

    Our 2005 Monte Carlo LS 207 gets Mobil1 5W-30

You truly are a trusting soul. :)

Just make sure they're putting Full Synthetic 0W-40 in that beautiful Challenger.

Mobil 1 is an excellent oil and I have used it my 2009 SRT since day one. It is specified for high performance European cars that run at prolonged high speeds.

Years ago, Chrysler cut a better deal with Pennzoil to use their oil over Mobil 1. This is why they now recommend Pennzoil. Mobil 1 decided not to undergo extensive testing of its oil to meet Chrysler's new specifications.

I have no doubt about Mobil1's ability to protect at speed. I used Mobil1 almost exclusively in all of my vehicles from the early '90s until about 2013. And, I still use it in my 2005 Monte Carlo and would still use it in my 2005 GTO (if I still owned that awesome car.)

However, I'm also curious about why Mobil1's website makes recommendations for the 5.7 HEMI but not the 6.1 HEMI nor the 6.4 HEMI. Especially when Valvoline, Schaeffer, and Amsoil all have products that they're at least willing to recommend and stand behind even if they don't have an official license from Dodge. The only answer that I can logically come up with is that Mobil1 is not confident that its product will protect the 6.1 or 6.4. The test Mobil1 has avoided submitting to is the "Taxi Cab" test to measure protection at idle. And, our HEMI engines obviously NEED extra protection at idle from a quality oil and frequent oil changes. And that message doesn't match with Mobil1's marketing message.

SO ... while I still have an ounce of warranty left, I'll stick with Pennzoil in my Dodge HEMI engines. And for folks that are out of warranty, you're free to use whatever you want. Shoot, you could even use Extra Extra Extra Virgin Olive Oil if you want. At least the smoke would smell cool.
