You mentioned you talked at SEMA about this. What was the reaction?
I'd like to hear your presentation once you've got it done.

I prepared a presentation for SEMA Education 2021 in Las Vegas on the issues surrounding Net Zero by 2050 and how there is essentially no way to install sufficient wind/solar to meet the energy needs of the US with "renewables". The major issue is the unreliability of Wind/Solar on a moment to moment basis requiring backup power from fossil sources. The idea that battery backup will make unreliable power sources reliable is nonsense. There simply isn't enough battery reserve avaiable nor will there be for any sustained loss of Wind/Solar power production. with trillions spent, we may get a few hours backup, but nothing like days and weeks during a protracted weather event that shuts down Wind/Solar.
This is a mulit-faceted issues with unreliability only one aspect of it. Lack of Rare Earth Elements, Cobalt, Nickle and lithium will become major issues as we try to expand both Wind/Solar and EV's at the same time. The world's supply and production of critical metals is inadequate to meet the demand in the future. Great Britain alone if they went 100% EV would consume all resources needed to build those vehicles. This will be the topic of a future presentation.
The SEMA presentation on Net Zero was very well received by the audience with numerous good questions including a discussion about how bad ethanol is for fuel.

Here is a video that talks about the next-generation 2024 Dodge Challenger. There are some updates, including some new comments from Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis about the platform, and new details about the 3.0L Global Medium Engine turbocharged inline-six cylinder "Tornado" engine that is likely going to end up in the 2024 Dodge Challenger. This engine is based on the 2.0L Hurricane turbocharged engine, and could end up replacing the 5.7L Hemi V8 with more power and better fuel economy.

The June 2022 issue of Car & Driver had some interesting facts about Stellantis' new turbo in-line six that will, initially, go into the Jeep Wagoneer. "Stellantis says that it will fit in place of any of its longitudinally mounted V6s or V8s, so expect it to replace the aged 5.7 and 6.6-liter V8s in other Jeep and Ram products."
    • The Hurricane engine comes in two versions that share 96 parts, but not the crankshafts, rods or pistons.
    • The Hurricane uses two smaller turbos, each fed by three cylinders to minimize lag.
    • In the high output engine, the turbos pressurize the intake manifold up to 26 psi.
    • In the standard output engine, the turbos are smaller and they deliver 22.4 psi of boost. An electric pump circulates coolant after shutdown.
    • With 510 hp., the high output engine becomes the most powerful in-line six on the market, beating BMW's 503-hp. twin-turbo 3.0 liter.
    • The hurricane is lighter than the cast-iron block V8s its designed to replace. The standard version weighs 430 lbs. and the high-output one comes in at 441 lbs. As a comparison, a 6.4 Hemi weighs 500 lbs.
    • The aluminum block's bore and stroke of 84.0 by 90.0 mm add up to 2993 cc of displacement.
    • A plasma transferred wire arc process lines the cylinders with a coating that is stronger and lighter than traditional iron sleeves.
    • The 24-valve aluminum head has sodium-filled exhaust valves, like the Hemis.
    • Wide-range cam phasers enable a broad powerband.
    • Fuel is delivered via direct injection.
    • The high-output engine has 9.5:1 compression and bumps up the boost. It also gets forged aluminum pistons and the crankshaft and connecting rods are forged steel. Redline is 6,100 rpm.
    • The standard output engine gets by with cast-aluminum pistons and a 5,800 rpm limiter.
    • Each Hurricane variant has its own water-to-air intercooler. The high-output engine's is larger and features dual inlets.

    To ME,
it just looks harder to work on, and too expensive to have someone else work on.

Give me Dual Points and a pair of Carter AFB's

BMW applications are so tight you have to drop the sub-frame to replace the pan gskt! Same for turbo access! Hope there'll be more room/better access if these reach the Challenger/Charger applications.

FCA is betting on the next """election""" having literally even one thing to do with the will of the American people, it seems.

Meh, I don't care if it has 1000hp. It's an inline six. It would have belonged in the Neon, certainly, but not a replacement for the Hemi. A Jeep, too, would be a good place for it, or perhaps as a boat anchor.

There is no replacing the Hemi. There IS, however the concept of replacing the people now at the head of Mopar. Getting rid of the best American hot rod engine of all time is an intentional scuttling of the brand. I wonder if Chevy and Ford are shrieking with delight over this.

Hopefully, Mopar stock plummets far enough that it is bought by RBAM's, not white-blooded weirdos from Planet Starbucks.

It's all about fleet mileage, emissions and corporate profit.
