Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. When my trunk is closed it is off by about 1/4in. Is there a way to adjust it? I am about to modify my tail lights and it will look stupid if it doesn't line up. Thanks in advance for any help!
This is not an uncommon problem. If you want to try to align the trunk openings yourself, you can try these steps: Open the trunk. There are two black plastic hex nut adjusters (bumpers) that are threaded. They are on the bottom left and right body below the weatherstripping. Depending on the adjustment needed, turn it up or down until your trunk looks aligned. For example, if you want the left (driver) side to lower, raise the right (passenger) side. Crank the driver side down (clockwise) and raise passenger side up (counter clockwise. It may take a few tries by closing and observing the alignment until you get it where it fits best. If the driver's side will not come down with the stop adjustment, you may have to move the striker (latch) down slightly to make it close a tiny bit tighter. That will bring the lid down into contact with the stop and made it sit correctly.
Thanks SRT-Tom. I have a strong feeling that its not the bumpers. If it is the latch how do I adjust that?
If it is the latch, (i.e., height adjustment), just slide the latch/release. Loosen the torx screw and turn down about 3/4 centimeter. The trunk should now rest on the rubber stoppers.
I will definitely try that. My supplies for modifying my tail lights should come in this week so I plan on trying to fix it this weekend. Thanks again!
Try adjusting the Trunk stop post at the bottom of the trunk opening I had the same problem Just give them a little turn to lower the height of the trunk when closed good luck DK
