Over the past 13 years, Dodge has employed a marketing strategy of releasing an array of limited edition models. Here is the staggering lineup.
The inaugural edition of the Challenger was numbered, X of 6,462, and came equipped with the 425 hp. 6.1 Hemi engine with 425 lb.-ft. of torque. It also featured an Auto Stick Automatic, 20-inch Alcoa forged aluminum wheels, 245/45-20 Goodyear tires, Brembo brakes, etc. Color choices were Hemi Orange, Brilliant Black Crystal and Bright Silver. In deference to the 2006 carbon fiber Challenger concept car, all SRTs had a vinyl “carbon-fiber” hood decal.
In terms of performance, it ran a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds, 13.0 seconds in the ¼ mile and 173 mph. top speed. SRT engineers also baked in serious suspension and braking capabilities, backed by enough stopping power to go from 0 to 100 mph to 0 mph. again in under 17 seconds.
2009 R/T Classic
The R/T Classic combined the throwback design cues complete with a 5.7-liter Hemi that put out 376 hp. and 410 lb.-ft. of torque, while propelling the car from 0-60 in fewer than 6 seconds.
A “pistol-grip” shifter was offered, as well as three colors- Hemi Orange, TorRed and B5 Blue.
2010 SRT8 Plum Crazy
The SRT Plum Crazy model was covered in a Plum Crazy Pearlcoat from back in the “Dodge car paint-code archive,” and had a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 engine.
2010 Furious Fuchsia Edition
Dodge decided to celebrate four decades of muscle-car production by launching a limited run of Furious Fuchsia R/Ts and SRTs. The SRT8 cars were limited to 400 units.
2010 Mopar 10
This model featured numerous Mopar enhancements inside and out, and under the hood. Among them were an exclusive engine cover, a cold-air intake, hood pins, Mopar T-shifter and goss-black 20-inch wheels. A total of 500 were built.
2011 SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition
The SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition honored the return of a much-loved Cubic inch engine configuration to the lineup. A total of 1,492 were built.
Those 392 cubic inches (6.4 liters) raised the output to 470 hp. and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. The model had special badges, a numbered dash plaque (X of 1,492), 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, two exterior color themes and full-body racing stripes.
2012 SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket
The Yellow Jacket was a tribute to the 1970 model. It has a 392 engine along with an updated graphics package that included a strong dose of Stinger Yellow.
2013 R/T Blacktop
Blacked-out style cues were proinent on the 5.7 Hemi R/T Blacktop. The Challenger had 20-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels, a gloss-black grille surround and fuel door, full-length matte-graphite striping, accented at the edges in red, and three available exterior colors- Pitch Black, Granite Crystal and Billet Silver.
Stopping, steering and handling were improved using a three-mode electronic stability control setup and the 2012 Super Track Pack.
2014 R/T Shaker
This model featured the famed "Shaker" hood, a 5.7 hemi and an updated exterior look. The engine’s output could have been increased with the Scat Package.. Only 2,000 numbered cars were built. MSRP was $36,995.
2014 Mopar 14
The Mopar 14 was accented with aftermarket-style upgrades and a functional “shaker” hood. Three power upgrades were offered for the 5.7 that could raise the output to 433 hp. and 447 lb.-ft.
Dodge also made sure the Mopar 14 entry would be just as collectible as the edition from 2010, freshening up the appearance with Mopar style cues, capping the production run at only 100 cars. The MSRP was $40,490.
2014 100th Anniversary
The 100th Anniversary Challengers boasted die-cast “Dodge Est. 1914” badges to go with a rich selection of exterior finishes and a major cabin upgrade, which included a racing-style steering wheel and two new Nappa leather themes.
2016 Hellcat Plum Crazy
In 2016, Dodge combined one of its most sought-after heritage colors with the Hellcat. The shade went perfectly with a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi. The result was a car that could serve up 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Performance was a blazing 11.2 second ¼ mile. Only a Demon did it quicker.
The T/A paid tribute to the 1970 Challenger T/A that was built to qualify for Trans-Am racing. Cosmetic changes included a set of gold 20-inch wheels, a satin black-painted hood, a black racing gas cap, T/A front and rear spoilers, etc. Among the performance upgrades was a modified Hellcat cold-air intake system, wider 9-inch alloy wheels wearing 245/45 ZR20 Goodyear F1 tires, a .5 inch lowered ride height, Bilstein shocks and a three-mode stability control system. Starting MSRP was $38,490.
2017 Mopar 17
This 80th Anniversary edition was created to celebrate Mopar’s 80th Anniversary. It included numerous Mopar performance parts and accessories. Pricing was set at $55,790. A total of 160 were built.
Under the hood, it used the same 6.4 Hemi found in the R/T 392. The model featured a Hellcat cold air intake, Shaker, silver powder-coated strut tower braces and caps and a serialized badge under the hood, showing 1-80 of the Contusion Blue version and 1-80 of the Billet Silver model. Stopping power was provided by four-piston Brembo brakes.
The Demon was the world's quickest quarter-mile street-legal production car certified by the National Hot Rod Association at 9.65 seconds in the ¼ mile at 140 mph. Power was supplied by an 808-hp supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi. Wheels were 18 by 11 inches with Demon-branded 315/40R18 Nitto street-legal drag radial tires.
Only 3,300 cars were produced (3,000 for the U.S. and 300 for Canada). It came in 15 colors and the MSRP was $84,694. It will probably be the most collectible Challenger.
2018 Scat Pack 1320
The 1320 was offered for the budget-minded and entry-level drag racer who liked a "bare-bones" car for the drag racing. It used many of the drag strip components from the top-performing Demon. mSRP was $46,000.
2019 Stars & Stripes
The Stars & Stripes included a satin black and silver accent center stripe, satin black American Flag fender decals, 20-inch black wheels, and black trim badging. Bronze four-piston Brembo brake calipers were also included on all Scat Packs and also on GT and R/T models equipped with the Performance Handling Group. The interior had a mix of gloss black and bronze accents, stitching, and trim pieces throughout. The select colors available were Destroyer Grey, F8 Green, Granite Crystal, IndiGo Blue, Maximum Steel, Octane Red, Pitch Black, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle.
2019 Hellcat Redeye
The Hellcat Redeye boasted a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi that generated 797 hp. and 707 lb.-ft. of torque. This made it the most powerful and expensive ($69,650) production V-8 after Dodge stopped production of the Demon.
Performance was 3.4 seconds 0-60 mph. and 10.8 second/131 mph. in the ¼ mile. The top speed was 203 mph. The 6.2 Hemi paired with an eight-speed auto.
Externally, the Redeye came with the Demon and Hellcat Widebody fender flares, 3.5-inch-wider wheels (20x11-inch forged "Devil's Rim" aluminum) with Pirelli P Zero 305/35ZR20 tires with a fully functional dual-snorkel hood.
2020 50th Anniversary
This model celebrates 50 years of the nameplate's existence. It will be available on four trim levels: the rear-wheel drive GT, the R/T Shaker, the R/T Scat Pack, and the Scat Pack Widebody models. All models except the GT get a body-colored Shaker hood as standard. Other cosmetic changes include a set of gold 20-inch wheels, a satin black-painted hood, and a bunch of 50th Anniversary badges scattered across the interior and exterior.
The trim package will be available in seven different colors: Frostbite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green, Go Mango, and the newest color, Gold Rush. Dodge says it'll make 70 examples (another 1970 reference) in each color for each trim, which adds up to a total of 1,960 units.
The 50th Anniversary trim will cost $5,995 if you order the R/T Scat Pack or R/T Scat Pack Widebody, $5,495 if you get it with the regular R/T, and $4,995 if you option it with the GT.
