My 2017 V6 came with an air compressor. I priced out what it would cost to buy a donut spare from a dealership and it was well over 300 bucks. I guess since I just put new wheels and tires on yesterday, I could use one of the old ones as a spare, although I don't like the idea of carrying around a full size tire.

1st thing I did was get rid of that compressor, you don't want to use the green stuff that is in it if you choose to fix a flat(hole). I bought the spare tire, and did it separately, tire was the most expensive thing, $200 for that donut, the rim was $100 from the dealer, and the rest I got at Wally World and the hard ware store, it is an 18" spare tire. but at least you got something to ride on till you get a new tire or get the old one fixed, you don't want to use that green stiff in the pump, that screws up your tire sensor and you will have to get a new one.l

I actually ran over a nail last summer and had to use the green stuff to get to work. They have a tire shop where I work and fixed that tire within a couple hours. They must have been able to clean it before it wrecked the sensor, because that sensor is in my new tires now. I got lucky. I think they’re $64 each to replace.

Usually you are fine unless you remove the nail

Just like if you ever get stabbed with a knife, leave it in

    I mean, that’s what I have been told :)

For those who do not want to buy a spare, carry an inexpensive tire plug kit. This will fix simple punctures and avoid the use of the tire sealant.

True, but the reason I looked into a spare was that if your tire is sliced, you're screwed. I will probably end up carrying around a full size spare when I go out of town. I'm going to Minneapolis tomorrow and was possibly going to try to pick up a donut spare from a junkyard, but wasn't sure if it would fit.

Just make sure you get one from a charger or a Challenger.... those are the only ones that will fit. I know my wife’s 2011 Se rally’s came with a spare, some do and some don’t, all depends on how it is ordered

I’m thinking of searching the boneyards for a donut too. I have one of my winter tires in the trunk but it takes up a lot of the useful room in the trunk. And I still have to throw a small floor jack in.
