Since 2008, Dodge has created an incredible 18 "limited edition" models- the latest being the 2020 50th Anniversary Edition (commemorating 50 years since the debut of the original 1970 Challenger). See the Articles forum for full details and photos. I realize that this is just an effort to increase sales and market a car that has basically remained unchanged for 13 years, but, sometimes, I think that they are really stretching it. For example, the 2014 100th Anniversary Edition (commemorating the founding of Dodge in 1914) and the 2017 Mopar 17 (commemorating Mopar parts' 80th Anniversary). There have also been 15 other "limited edition" models: 2008 SRT8 2009 R/T Classic 2010 SRT8 Plum Crazy 2010 Furious Fuchsia Edition 2010 Mopar 10 2011 SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition 2012 SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket 2013 R/T Blacktop 2014 R/t Shaker 2014 Mopar 14 2016 Hellcat Plum Crazy 2017 T/A 2018 Scat Pack 1320 2018 Demon 2019 Stars & Stripes 2019 Hellcat Redeye 2020 50th Anniversary Isn't this just overkill? When everything is "special," nothing is special.
i want to say that the MOPAR edition rotated around through several cars, challenger, charger, dart. 300, jeep.
Wow, I had no idea there was at least one limited edition every year except for 2015. I really wanted a 50th, but didn't want to pay a premium. I thought about it too long, but had no idea they would all be spoken for within a day or two of being able to be ordered.
I'm going to guess the fact that they launched the Hellcat in 2015 is why there was no "special edition" that year, they just wanted to focus to be on the hellcat and facelift more than anything else
I actually have found a few 50th's for sale recently. But only one has a decent discount. IDK, its still almost loaded and pushing 48k and is torred. It looks good, but I really wanted gold or sinamon stick if I were to get a 50th or octane, SS, F8 or go mango if I were to get a regular one. Its also a ways away or I might have went and looked at it. You can't really legally shop right now anyways so I think I'll just wait until this crisis is over and start looking and hope to find one in a color I would like more. I'm thinking the discounts will most likely get better too as not as many people will likely be buying and there should be a surplus on the lots from the CV.
