A female driver lost control of a Hellcat going 120 mph (in a 45 mph zone) and crashed into a large tree bursting into flames. DNA will be used to identify the four occupants. Very sad. Hellcats are like loaded guns in the hands of inexperienced drivers. http://fox8.com/2017/09/25/investig...ormation-in-stark-county-crash-that-killed-4/
This is certainly sad, as was the article from a week or so ago, with the old guys on a test drive. I have to wonder, though - how long will it be, before some jagaloon politician starts calling for a "ban" on the hellcats, or any other high horsepower car? Maybe even the SRT/392.
Doesn't take brains or driving ability to buy a Hellcat. All it takes is money. Combine that with a general lack of knowledge about the car and an unhealthy lack of respect for the capabilities of this car and you get a tragedy. I have owned 3 Corvettes and at any speed it never felt nasty or was over powering its design capabilities. My Scat Pack is a fun car to drive but also feels like a junkyard dog that can bite you at any moment once you're over 120. It gets lite in the nose. This is a straight line car. Toss excessive speed and curves in together and the results can be horrible. Very sad.
Real bummer! Really sad for the 3 people not driving! Unfortunately, there will always be people who think powerful cars are toys, so they buy one, and they ruin it for the rest of us. +120 is airfield speed in these cars. Really, these cars are too loose in the rear at 130+ without a proper wing or spoiler in the first place, so if you're taking your stock hellcat up that high without a roll cage, a HAN system, a helmet, and a harness, you don't have the proper respect for that kind of speed. But at least on the strip you probably just kill yourself. Stay off the public roads at hight speed! Or, pay the $1000 each way to ship your car to Europe and have a great week in Germany! Otherwise, you're just an idiot who killed other people with your stupidity. I wouldn't worry about a "ban" Scat. Even if they are, anyone worth 2 cents under the hood will be able to get around that. Going to be very hard to "ban" that.
