My wife drug this thing through the door today. Probably some sort of pay back to go with my hangover from last night. We've been talking for over a year about getting another German shepherd. So I suppose we welcome Berlin to the family. So fare she's snatched a freshly delivered pizza off my counter and got a ass whopping from the cat. This is going to be an interesting decade! [IMG]

Thank you she's a rescue. She's doing great. I took her to the dog park today with the old man. She did good. I gotta get some weight on her though and calm her down a bit. But I'm impressed with her overall attitude.

My Wife n I always get rescues, although a different Breed, Dobermans. We usually get the older ones so they don't live as long as getting a pup. BUT we love our Dobes!

    Good Luck n have Fun!

Admittedly it took me a long time to adopt my first animal. My thinking was, why would anyone get rid of a perfectly good animal. Then I found out about the retired ones from my uncle. He's a Army colonel, so I got reeducated. I grew up with Japanese Akita's, in college I had a English mastiff. My parents always told me you could never trust a shepherd. Oh how wrong they where, every day with my old man has not gone to waste. He's slowing down but he's still a bad ass.

"They've " said the same thing about Dpbermans, can't trust 'em. They've been one of the best dogs I've owned, AND all but one have been Rescues. In fact, my Wife insisted on getting a puppy about 10 years ago and that dog was a PITA! All of our rescues had "issues", but nothing that couldn't get corrected, or worked out, over time. Then they've turned out to be great dogs! A lot of times people get pets that aren't suited for the environment that they live in. Example; getting a Border Collie or Brittany Spaniel and they live in an apartment in the city. NOT a great idea. They are high energy dogs and need to have a lot of exercise and run time during the day or they could end up being destructive. Which means they end up in a Pound. Doesn't mean they were bad dogs just means they had stupid owners.

Moral of this story is ... research the breed and type of pet that you want and that's suitable for your living conditions. Then ... Save ur Best Friend's Life, Adopt a Doberman, er ... I mean, Pet!

Berlin is in to everything. It’s been a long time since I’ve had puppy in the house. But she’s fairly smart and learning quick. We found out she’s rather sick. Some sort of stomach infection. We are medicating it heavily in hopes it won’t stunt her. The vet doesn’t seem to concerned.
