Unfortunately, it won't happen because Dodge would have to build a new 2-door car, based on the 1968-1970 body style. With the limited edition Challengers, all Dodge had to do was to change the trim packages.

also got to remember back in the day, Dodge / Plymouth offered at least 9 different engine packages too, you don't see that anymore.

I have seen the Slant 6 in Challengers and Barracudas back in the day. It was a good motor in an economic family car say, a Valiant or a Duster with a manual tranny. I never warmed up to a 225 cid Slant 6 in a Challenger but they were out there.

For those of you who are wondering, here were the engine options:

    225 (145 hp., 215 lb./ft.)
    318 (230 hp., 320 lb./ft.)
    340- 4 bbl. (275 hp., 340 lb./ft.)*
    340- Six Pack (290 hp., 345 lb./ft.)
    383- 2 bbl. (290 hp., 390 lb./ft.)
    383- 4 bbl. (330 hp., 425 lb./ft.)
    440- 4 bbl. (375 hp., 480 lb./ft.)
    440- Six Pack (390 hp., 490 lb./ft.)
    426 Hemi (425 hp., 490 lb./ft.)

*(Note- The horsepower of the high-revving, street fighter 340- 4 bbl. engine, and perhaps others, was under rated. For example NHRA factored it up to 325 hp. Supposedly, Plymouth took the 275 hp. reading at 5,000+ rpm instead of its 6,000 rpm redline. That's why the 340, with its lighter weight, was a better engine choice in the Challenger or 'Cuda for both drag racing and handling).

I know it’s not but I’d like to see a resurrection of the Road Runner! And done right like they did the challengers. And I keep hearing about the Cuda which they can’t get a good concept image done right.

Too many limited additions, but with each one the customer response played a part. They finally gave better packages that muscle cat guys like. The TA with true force air intake, the Demon drag bagger catch me if you canner with crazy production mods installed True limited I think. But like you said the marketing guys jumped in before asking the performance guys. Like the upgrades everyone had to do to get true Hemi power( Mopar.com) stage kits, AME, and the local auto performance stores.

I knew a lady once who bragged at work the she just bought the limited addition Mazda I think. And I asked her what’s special about it and she pointed at the Limited edition decal on her dash.....?

In 2010, Chrysler released anew 426 ’Elephant’ Hemi for racing. It was a aluminum engine and delivered 540 HP and 530 ft.-lbs. of torque, at a cost of $13,675. Unfortunately, there are no plans to make a street version. It is simply too costly to meet modern emissions and CAFE standards. Like it or not, the modern-day Hemi is a dinosaur. FCA's next generation of performance cars will be powered by 4 and 6 cylinder turbos.

Ford and GM aren't giving up v8's. Why would FCA, which has more attitude these days that both Ford and GM put together?
