Hey I know this is kind of a newb question, but I was wanting to do a cam swap in my ‘14 R/T auto to a 392 cam... mainly because the cam Is fairly cheap plus it’s my daily the gain of 40-50hp and the new found aggressive rumble would suit me just fine. I was wondering what all mods or add one I would need to perform this swap??... Or could I just swap the 392 cam straight across and get it tuned and be done with it.

Any any input about the swap to a 392 cam would be much appreciated, as well as any info or alternative direction for the swap I am open to all forms of info even constructive criticism.

Ultimately I was pricing around $600.. just trying to get the biggest bang for my buck for that budget. Sorry so long winded

I wonder what this would do to fuel economy?
    Would it blow up?

from what I have seen on other forums you would get more HP if you did the (manual trans) cam swap, seems like the manuals have something hidden in that one. but if you are an auto trans car, and putting in a manual trans cam.......that would do away with your mds feature, got to give up something for more HP.

Don’t forget to upgrade the pushrods. There will be more stress on the stock ones and might as well look into fuel rail replacement too. Maybe even your rocker arms sense your there. Boom!! Doesn’t sound good at higher RPM.

Do not expect a 40 t0 50 HP gain from a cam swap.

I put on a cold air intake, stage 2 cam swap, new pushrods, long tube headers with cat back magnaflow exhaust, custom tune, and change rear end gear to 391 getrag.
My car is a 5.7 with automatic tranny. Engine dyno'd at 370hp , and 396 rear wheel torque before modifications, and dyno'd at 470hp and 410 rear wheel torque after modifications. I am very happy with the changes I made..

    How is that?
I have a 2014 RT Shaker that I did basically the same.
Already has cold air intake TTI long tube headers Magna flow hi flow cats Corsa Extreme cat back exhaust cam swap/push rods custom tune. Did not swap out gears I ended up with 380 HP to the wheel and 379 torque

How is that? So no dyno sheet where's the numbers. A cam swap is not going to give you a 100 HP gain

I just did a Stage 2 upgrade on my 2016 5.7 RT......its idling really rough....dealer said it was the added torque....I'm not buy that......they reprogrammed my PCM...I was wondering if anyone else has done this and had any issues...or any thoughts or ideas...

    Thx
