Care of Satin Finishes

    Dodge posted advice on how to care for the satin paint finish on the Demon (see below).

    The main points to remember, on any satin paint job, are as follows:

    1. Only hand wash.
    2. Do not use wax, detail spray, polish or glaze.
    3. Do not use terry cloth or paper towels.
    4. Lightly wipe the surface in forward and backward motions- not circular.

    In addition, for what its worth, I have a 2017 T/A 392. I've tried 2 of the products included in the Dodge paperwork for care of the satin with excellent results:

    A couple of months after applying the paint coating I managed to park under a tree dripping sap. So there were 10-15 sticky drips on my satin roof. I took a paper towel and lightly touched the sap which stuck to the paper towel and came off the satin like food out of a teflon pan. The stuff is expensive but you use very little per application. One 4oz bottle should last years if not the lifetime of the car.

    budget minded how about ratwax detailer for satin paints anyone used this.

    I use aerospace 303. This was a recommended product on retailers websites.
    • Easy on and off.
    • Reasonably priced
    • Provides up protection
    • Probably does not last too long but I reapply often as I just don't know and it's extremely easy.
    • Water beads well
    • Zero discoloration
    From what I have read others use turtle wax ice with good results but I will not try it. It is my understanding that wax drys up decals over time.

    In the end I'm sure there are plenty of options, but for the year, I have been using aerospace 303 and I I'm happy.

    as far as detailer wax i use either CMagic http://www.cmagicwax.com/ or Griot's
    CMagic is used by the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, they prep their incoming cars with this before delivery to their customers. I figure if it is good enough for vettes, then it is good enough for my challenger.

    I used the Turtle Wax Ice for years and no problems.
    Last year I had Ceramic Pro put on the car including wheels and calipers, just hose it down and dry.
    Car looks better than new.

    Hi guys

    I am new to the forum ,I did post this in the general discussion but did to get much feedback so I thought I would try here. I have been thinking about ordering a 392 TA in the fall and have some questions about the matte black paint. It is difficult to maintain? In the past I have coated my cars with a ceramic coating for the protection as well as after just a wash and dry always looks like a perfect detail job. Has anyone had their matte black paint coated with ceramic? Would anyone that ordered this model regret getting the matte black hood/roof/ trunk? Any feedback about this finish or model would be appreciated. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this

    I am having no luck with all the products mentioned. I have a 2017 yellow T/A with a black matte rood, hood and trunk. I have a few greyish spots the size of a pencil eraser on it that I have tried to remove with no luck. I have tried all of the recommended washes, cleaners, etc for matte finishes with no luck. Someone suggested a bit of alcohol. Anyone have any ideas?
