My 2010 RT did well in Philly during the winter on plowed roads. Wouldn’t hurt to deflate the tires to a lower pressure for traction. A bag of sand in the back helps too.

Snow tires are recommended as well but got by without them this year. Better be safe than sorry with your baby!

Mine's a '15 R/T Plus and drove that sucker all winter long for the first 2 yrs with no issues here in lower east Michigan. My daughter switched schools last yr and now picking her up from school is a nightmare cuz they don't plow the area (it's in a private little subdivision). I got stuck once last year on a hill (cars in front of me came to a dead stop) and I couldn't get going again. I ended up rocking it out after a long while (should have heeded the fella's advice above me and called a tow) but I thought I could get unstuck... and I did but screwed up the alignment doing so.

I'm trying to figure out the best tires for this year so it doesn't happen again. I'm torn between getting a beater car and getting the Blizzaks like others have suggested. Wish I had a Jeep for the winter. As long as you can take an area that's plowed well it's ok, otherwise think twice.

Weird thing is I've had RWD manuals all my life and never really had that many issues with getting stuck. Maybe we're just getting more snow than we used to. Last year was brutal here in MI.

We don't get enough snow in PDX to worry about, when we do I drive the V10 RAM 4x4
Portland CLOSES the town and declares a State of Emergency when we get 1"-2".
I live 25 west and north, in the mountains, and still only get snow for no more than 4-5 days.
We do have one bad hill I am worried about as semi's like to try to make it, and end up blocking the entire 2-lane road.

My 2016 R/T is not driven during periods of snow. It would become a 4200 lb. purple hockey puck on a snow packed road. I choose to not go to the expense and trouble of studded tires and the like. It stays in the garage as we have 4x4 and AWD options available to us with other vehicles. Even if I felt confidant driving my R/T on snow packed /icy roads there is always the "other guy" factor to worry about. Around metro Denver during snowy weather most drivers either do not know how to drive or cannot drive in the snow. As one goes west into the mountains the quality of peoples driving or the lack thereof does not get much better. It is not the snow on the roads that bothers me as much as the other drivers reaction to it. At one time my job in the armored industry took me over a good bit of Colorado to the tune of 6,000 miles a month on a 4 day work week. I drove a RWD armored turbo diesel Ford van that weighed a good bit more than the average van. The extra weight with Big O's best snow/ice studded tires we did just fine in the snow but I did see many accidents and spinouts.....many of those were 4x4 and AWD
    type vehicles.

I do not want to risk the other love of my life, my 2016 R/T, to some yuppy in an Escalade in a snow storm that cannot drive or forgot to engage 4 wheel drive. Many around here think that 4 wheel drive also means 4 wheel stop in panic mode. I would recommend if one can afford to do so and as mentioned in a previous post, get a bad weather beater to drive in bad weather. They are all over metro Denver. I had a front wheel drive Sentra that with good tires on it I could go almost anywhere in town during bad weather. IMO, it is just too much to risk of getting my R/T smashed up by someone sending a text in a snow storm and a lot of that goes on around here.

A lot of great advice posted here. I live in Pittsburgh and purchased a set of Pirelli Scorpions for my 2017 Challenger.Put them on all four tires. I got around fine even with our hills. The idea is to keep your distance from everyone else the best you can. Light on the peddle, keep your distance and be cautious.

I'm in west central Minnesota. My SXT Plus is a daily driver. Bought in June, so this is my first winter with it. So far so good. Only 8700 miles on the factory tires, but when they get wore down I was looking at either Pirelli Cintauro All Season Plus tires or some Bridgestones. They rank highly at Tire Rack.com. They use salt here too. I washed my car Thursday while the outside temp was 12 degrees. Wiped it down and had it looking good. By that afternoon it was salty again. I plan on washing it weekly. Be nice to have a winter car, but that wasn't an option. I like driving it year round.

I park mine in the winter, drove company work van year round for years. Now that I am in the office I bought a Jeep Wrangler 4 Dr.
Best daily driver I've owned, even better that 4X4 Ram pickup.

I originally posted because I had been let go from a very good paying job here in Florida. Every place my resume received interest was in snow country. Long story short I found a job in Florida. So I am free to drive my 2013 R/T Classic year round without needing a beater or tire swap! But thanks for all of the great advice!
