A Camaro owner told me he installed a tuner and they voided his warranty. Lol. I actually just got back from the local Dodge dealership. They can sell me the Mopar one and the gal at the parts counter said I would NOT get any codes OR need a tuner. She said it would be louder, and I can live with that. It'll cost me $482.00 plus another $110 to install. I'm a former hairstylist, (straight), and I'm not good with tools. Not sure I would want to attempt putting this on or not. :)

The Hellcat airbox modification costs around $100 for the parts and takes about 1/2 an hour to install. You don't need professional installation. If it will work with the specific Mopar CAI you're looking at is something I couldn't tell you without knowing the part number for the CAI.

A CAI won’t throw codes and won’t void your warranty.

The Mopar instructions are pretty good and straight forward. I wouldn’t pay that much to have it installed. You can probably find a fellow Challenger owner to help you at a Cruise In — if there any where you live.

most dealers will void you warranty if they know you use a tuner, most folks who use one...if they have to take their car in to the dealer for work will switch back to the stock tune that way it wont show up on their machine. and then they load their tune back up when they get it back from dealer. but unless you are like my dealer, my mechanic there knows I run a tune and doesn't bother to report it when it comes in for work.. :)

My problem is that I live in a small town and I don't know a single person who actually currently has a CAI. A guy I work with had one on a Ford Fusion, and all he said about it to me was that it took his car a long time to warm up in the winter. I did talk to a guy this afternoon who doesn't have one, but he is familiar with them and even offered to help put one in, for some craft beer. :) He said I could go with the K & N, which would cost about $200 less than the Mopar. I don't know if I could do the Hellcat airbox modification with that CAI, or if Iwould need to. I don't know the benefits of the Hellcat airbox, or how the K & N would hook up to outside air. I still need to research. I doubt I will ever get a tuner. This seems like a nice upgrade though.

A tuner for installing a CAI??
I don't think it is needed.
Be careful with some of them, I put in a drop in K&N into my wife's Charger and they had so much oil on it from the factory it was getting in to the intake tube and dripping oil into the airbox.

you can always go with K&N. they are pretty dependable.
