I have a 2013 R/T Classic 5.7 - looking for help wondered if anyone else has encountered same problem. Either with or without cruise sometimes when it begins to climb a grade it's like engine just momentarily shuts off and for a few seconds nothing press it to the floor nothing then it launches itself (if cruise is on) for a couple seconds pauses again then really launches back up to set speed then settles down n goes on .. without cruise just have to keep throttling until it decides it's over its temper tantrum lol. Otherwise runs smooth as silk? Only on a grade - cruise or not- sport mode or not- day or night - and sometimes it wont do it at all????
It has tripped the light a couple of times then in a few days light goes out had dealer scan twice no codes no code history...I'm beginning to think it may have something to do with the eco mode like when it transitions from economy to all 8 cylinders to climb the hill. Also I find it odd that even when the check engine light goes out the dealer says no history...they are the ones that told me if a light has ever been on the code would be stored.
I know there was a recall on some models for something to do with the Cruise Control. I got a card in the mail earlier this week about it. Talking to the dealer Friday to see what the deal is. I have the 2017 SXT Plus, but maybe there was some issue earlier?
Yes I'm checking with dealer to ... heard there was one for alternator hopefully get it figured out before spring.
I had a similar problem during a long drive from SoCal to Denver. I was climbing a slight hill on Hwy 70 near Rulison just west of Rifle, CO. The engine lost power but would idle roughly. I coasted to an offramp and tried to clear the problem. I shut off the engine and check for trouble codes on my Trinity. The unit showed trouble code P2173 Throttle Act Cont Syst. When I restarted the car, the problem cleared. The dealer said that they have seen this code happen occasionally but have no solution. it is most likely a computer programming issue that shuts down the drive-by-wire throttle control if certain conditions occur. Once cleared, the problem has never reoccurred. Bob
