CHALLENGER SCAT PACK VS. HELLCAT VS. RED EYE

Just curious between these 3 models of the Challenger which one will have the highest maintenance costs and or reliability problems?

I know the two top models Red Eye and Hellcat are super charged.

The Scat Pack 1320 is normal aspirated 392 engine.

Does a super charged engine present more problems or more cost in maintenance?

What are the differences in costs of maintaining each of these 3 models?

Performance differences in acceleration, handling etc?

Scat Pack 1320 best bang for the buck?

All of the above would be the new models 2018 and 2019.

 

I think they all are going to have a higher maintenance cost compared to a 5.7 but they are all probably around the same cost. I chose to go with a 5.7 because I'm 46 years old and not into go balls to the wall fast anymore. I like my car and just enjoy its beauty.

 

Agree. IMO, the 5.7L has enough torque to break the tires free, chirp the tires in the lower gear up shifts (automatic) and push you into the seat back.

It’s more than enough fun for streetlight to streetlight or doing some launches on a country road. Unless you’re a serious drag racer, the 5.7 and even the newer stock V6s have enough horsepower to get you in trouble.

 

I didn’t buy the V6 because I couldn’t afford a faster Challenger. 305 hp is enough for me, and I get great gas mileage. 0-60 in under 6 seconds is something I can live with.

 

Love my 5.7. Plenty of power out of stock motor, had a custom Dyno tune and the 6.1's were only beating me by 0.01 of a sec. in the 1/4 mile at the track.

 

Ok I understand what you guys are saying but I still wonder which models are the least reliable or more trouble prone? More maintenance?

Problem areas of the Scat Pack, Hellcat, and Redeye? Most reliable and or most prone to problems among these 3 specific models of the Challenger?

 

i.e. the 5.7 hemi engines in the 5.7 Challenger are known to break their timing chains prematurely.


Though there is no mention of this in Consumer Reports but this publication gives the Challenger the lowest rating among the performance cars and the Dodge brand name with the lowest possible reliability rating among all brands across the board.

 

I don't abuse my cars in fact I can make the tires last very long. My cars are adult driven so I don't expect problems or any reliability problems unless the vehicle is 30 years old and that is only because of its age. But I don't want to end up getting a dog either by poor design or engineering that causes me headaches because I too cannot be underneath the car or in the engine compartment all the time because of physical disabilities and ailments.
which is why I am attracted to this supposedly comfortable riding freeway cruiser in factory stock condition. (The question on this one is which one is most comfortable?) I test drove a 5.7 and SXT and didn't find them to be comfortable riding. However test driving an SRT with adaptive suspension had a better ride.

Now we have widebody models and that must be a whole new topic and the only negative thing I have heard on the widebody model is that it kicks up debris and scratches the body and is a $6,000 option..

To me the widebody option looks like added on flares and cosmetically does not appeal to me. As it is the Challenger is big enough and having another 3.5 inches wider will take up more space in my garage that I don't need. But the consensus appears to be that this widebody option improves handling and the stability of the 1320 Scat Pack Challenger, Hellcat and Redeye.
