First I want to say that I DO understand it's purpose...
And I understand HOW it works...
I do not need an education about those things...

What I want to know is this...
Why do I not hear of people having to use these with other cars...?

To my knowledge I have never heard of these being needed on GM cars or Fords or imports etc...
    Why these Hemis...?
Is this needed because the Hemi has an inferior crankcase ventilation system compared to other brands of cars/engines...?

    Thank you!

because I don't think the others dump as much oil into the intake system as the mopars do. that is what I have been told, but they could be wrong.

I had never heard of this either until recently. The "word" I got (& this is definitely paraphrased w/ a somewhat inserted opinion) is that car manufacturers simply don't want to waste their time or $ in production adding something like this that will extend the life of the engine.
I'm not certain of this, but I think that oil catch cans are used more in racing on higher horsepower/performance engines & traditionally not in regular production vehicles.
When I discovered this add-on part & learned more about it, & I thought it was a great idea. It's a relatively inexpensive part, it's very easy to install, & I like the idea of it extending the life of my 5.7L Hemi. I don't have my '14 R/T set up for racing or anything, but the Hemi is a performance engine after all.

So how much oil is caught in the can?
If you check it while doing an oil change, let’s say at about 4,000 miles, how much is in the can?

at 3k miles my 6.1 was at ~ 1/4" on the little DipStick thingy.
Will pull the can off next week when I change OIL and take a pic.

When I have checked mine after about 3-4000 miles it is about half full.

Thanks for the responses. I think I’ll put the can on my “to do” list.

Ford makes a dual catch can setup for the Shelby GT350 but they do not install them... well, not at the factory anyway. My friend bought a 2017 Shelby and the catch cans were in the trunk still in the Ford Performance boxes. The dealership offered to install but naturally they wanted to get paid for labor. He just did the install himself when he got the car home

The newer Mustangs use the oil catch can and Ford actually makes one for it.

From what I've read these are needed on BMW's also; I looked into putting one on my wife's 2016 Ford Fusion, but for her 2 1/2 year old car she only has about 8,000 miles on it so I'll probably won't; besides it's way harder to put one on her car as opposed to my SRT...I get about 3/4 full at oil change.
