I actually originally had vinyl decals put on. A couple months later one started to peel off at a car wash, and I didn’t want that to be an issue, so I had the paint shop remove the black decals and instead, paint red ones in their place. I couldn’t be happier. Here’s a picture of the decals. I did not like how the lower rear stripe blended in with the bottom of the car.

Actually, you should send FCA a pic of your car to show them how they should do the striping. I realize the cost at retail for painting them would be prohibitive; but, the color combination the way you did it is 100 times better than what you started with. :waytogo:

if it started to peel off at the car wash, then the vinyl used was not a good quality vinyl, 3m makes most of the stripes for the auto makers, but avery and oracle make goo vinyl also, I have had a set of stripes on mine for over 5 years with no issues. and they were of avery vinyl from Vinyl Imaginations.

I've no idea what the first owner did; but, I've never taken my car thru automatic car washes. I either use the high pressure wand type of wash or simply hand wash them. Because I've added vinyl pin striping to my last 4 cars I don't care to risk it getting damaged.

Was a brand new car wash that had been open for just a couple weeks. I think the problem was the vinyl. It was not near the quality of the factory vinyl.

Yeah, my car has never been through a car wash like that ,,,, my biggest fear on that , that it would rip my go wing off... lol, so I will take it to a manual wash and use the pressure washer, but no automation car wash, now my truck,,,,,, that is a different story.
