I installed this Catch can from Speed Logix. It well made and reasonable in price ($120). It did not come with directions however It’s a really simple installation . The entire installation only takes about 10-15 minutes (other than the time I ran around to find the correct mounting bolt only to find out they included one but it was inside the can!). To give the installation a finished look I used Gates Power Grip hose clamps on the ends of the hose connections. If you leave the hose ¼” back from a full seat and slide the Gates clamp over that reveal and the end of the hose and hit it with a heat gun to shrink it tight. I touched the white lettering with a magic marker, It does not show in person with out close inspection but it did flash in the pictures. You will need 3 clamps #32922 one 1 clamp 32925 the bigger one goes on the connection closest to the windshield. You can find the clamps on Amazon for about @2.50 each P1013979.JPG P1013980.JPG

I’ve never seen that type of shrink clamp before

In case anyone needs further evidence of the benefits of a catch can, look at these two throttle bodies (with comparable mileage). Guess which engine had the catch can?

I gotta say, I find myself questioning the value of the catch can in an engine without direct injection.

Look at Speedlogix's photo of the throttle bodies. Isn't that proof enough?

Almost everyone on this forum is interested in gaining more horsepower. For the sake of $100, why would you allow something to rob your engine of horsepower?

Cheap/free horsepower has always been the Holy Grail of the auto enthusiast. Believe me, I've been one for over 40 years (and 20 years of that, I was a master tech), a catch can WILL NOT give you any horsepower gains. Just because it can be shown that it "catches" some combustion byproducts (that modern engines are designed to ingest), you really can't make the leap that it in some way has any true benefits for your engine. And sorry but I find the pictures of the throttle bodies worthless since they come from the company trying to sell you a catch can and there's no way a catch can eliminates carbon deposits from the intake track. The most positive remarks I've found from reputable technical sources is that if nothing else, catch cans reduce the gunk running through your engine, so if that's important to you, by all means buy a catch can.

After seeing the amount of oil being trapped in mine I’m glad I did. Burning off that shit in your motor will surely cause carbon build up.
After all, that’s why we filter everything else going into the motor, isn’t it?

The only thing in your catch can that hasn't been filtered is a small (depending on your driving habits) amount of water from condensation. And regarding carbon build-up, oil is only a small contributor to that. EGR causes more carbon build-up and the main concern would be build-up on the intake valves but that doesn't happen because fuel from the fuel injection system continually washes it off.

The majority of what collects in the can is oil, Ive only seen a small bit of water in mine. I guess for $100 and an hour time I’m good with the results.
