Who has used springs to lower their Challenger? What were the benefits/drawbacks and would you recommend it? Thanks

I have a 2009 RT. I was able to get springs and shocks from another 2009 SRT. It lowered my car about 2 inches which gives my car a stance that is acceptable to the types of roads we have here in Louisiana. I don’t like it slammed to the ground. The handling improved greatly as I love to drive autocrosses we have around here every once in a while. BTW SRT’s came with the Bilstein shocks and springs.

So in general terms lowering the car with springs will normally give you a stiffer ride and combined with the lower center of gravity will improve handling, the cons are of course a harsher ride and less ground clearance

My ride is just a little rougher than normal. But I can take that swap for the handling. Plus the lower stance.

What tires are you running? I’d love to go 2 inches lower, but would worry about rubbing as I have 315/35/20s in the rear. Apparently I should also replace the struts/shocks at the same time, so someone told me to look at coil over kits. They range from $600-$4000.

I am running Firestone 245/45/20. My next set will be 275/40/20

I decided against lowering my car, but I think my rear struts are bad. Is there an upgrade to them, or should I just get the Mopar replacement ones from a dealer? I will get a rear diffuser instead of lowering my car. Cheaper too. :)

Do some research. Lowering springs don't necessarily mean deteriorating ride quality and improved handling.

    Agreed.

When I lowered my 2011 Challenger R/T I lost virtually zero ride quality and the handling did improve. I used Mopar Stage 1 lowering springs, Eibach front control arms, and Eibach rear camber bushings.

Now ... there was a little time between when I lowered and when I changed the control arms and bushings. During that time the car wasn't able to sit "square" on the tires. Riding on the edge definitely did deteriorate the ride quality.
