I don’t. Not sure why it won’t keep me logged in. I would definitely post here more. I also can’t post videos here, which would be nice.

Today’s car guys are not like in the old days, I was around for the first run of muscle cars, almost any of us could do most repairs and then some. I had a timing chain break while out and had the car (69 Buick Skylark GS) towed home, went and got parts and was back at the gas station who towed it 4 hours later for gas. All I did was follow what the Chilton repair manual said to do, I was 18 and never had done this type of repair before. I was offered a job as a mechanic on the spot, nice compliment.
My son (25) is today’s car guy, I bought him a brand new Wrangler and after 6 months wanted it lifted so we ordered the lift and are out in the driveway and the front is almost done when he says Dad I have tickets to the Yankees/Mets game so I need to leave by 1, guess who finished the front then lifted the rear alone??? Bueller, anyone?
He wanted a Magnaflow exhaust, he stayed for that but mostly just kept me company. He bought a Miata convertible, sits in the garage next to the Challenger, he needed something, nothing major done and didn’t want to bother me so he paid a friend to do it. Now he added a Suzuki GSXR 1000 to his little fleet and uses my enclosed cargo trailer as his storage garage. Next up is he has his eyes out for a Vette, he makes a nice living (Tesla employee) for his age but has no interest in maintaining or repairing his own stuff.
Today it’s all instagram, snapchat, Facebook etc. everything that fits in the moment and nothing like following a forum or helping someone else fix their stuff.
May this generation always have enough money to pay for what they need done.
I’ve been a self employed contractor for almost 45 years and can build and fix almost anything, I get great satisfaction looking at something I created knowing it will still be around a few decades from now, today’s car guys (not all but many) point out what they had someone else do to improve their car. Me, I’d rather do it myself. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I think this is a great site with a lot of good information specially on the technical stuff - its come in handy once or twice. Unfortunately also due to life circumstances like many others here, I sold my RT about 6 months ago. It was my favorite toy - I had a 70 Barracuda for my college car and sorry I sold it and when Dodge came out with the Challenger I promised myself I would get one. I had it for 4 years and loved driving it and miss that V8 rumble and roar and the 6 speed manual. It was my weekend driver so it sat in the driveway 70% of the time. Between the insurance and basic maintenance it just wasn't economically feasible any more - getting close to retirement and looking to cut expenses.

I hear you on cutting expenses. Thinking about selling my SRT to get an R/T. I think I can sell my '15 and buy a '17 and eliminate the little that I owe on the '15.

I had an '11 R/T Classic. I still think the Classic package is one of the best looking packages Dodge has offered on the Challenger.

I have mine on a collector’s policy it’s way less expensive than standard insurance and it’s agreed value not diminishing value. I’m getting ready to retire too, if I had no toys then I’d have to be home and listen to the Mrs nag, I’d rather keep working, lol. Good luck to you, may retirement agree well with you.

I'd say you got your answer. Haven't seen a thread jump like this before.

I haven't posted much to any of the forums the last couple years as I just don't find the time. It seems like ChallengerTalk is where most people are... I'm not sure why except to say that more people bring more people and it becomes a snowball. For example, I have posted a few of the same threads on several forums and I check them all and gravitate to the one that provides the most of what I am looking for in the post.

One of the forums gives the best technical information, but many of the people on it are jerks hidden behind their computers. I'm not a fan of that as rarely would anyone act like that in person for fear of being put on their respective arses.

Like any business it is all about advertising and trying to convince people that you are the best. I'm not sure how you do that. If it were possible... it would be nice to be able to have dealers point their new customers to this forum kind of like the way Sirius does with free trials, but that is a high mountain to climb. Being able to find out information on people who buy and register their car and then send them information about the forum? Another tough thing to figure out.

You have to be their first entry point into forums. I just Googled "Challenger Forum" and even though that is the name of this forum it does not come up first. Challengertalk and Challenger Forumz come up first. I have no idea how to change that?

    Best of luck.

More traffic......higher traffic sites list 1st....(or maybe the ones who pay the search engine the most to be listed first ??)
