My 2009 Challenger R/T came with copper spark plugs. I changed them out at 58k miles because I was worried, and they were in perfect condition! So, I decided to install NGK Iridium spark plugs, which are double plaitinum with an iridium coating at the core end. The performance pickup has been noticeable and will last 100k miles, so why not do something better for your Challenger?

Your copper plugs were way over due for changing. That's why you saw a noticeable performance gain.
