Reverse wiring...

Looking at the schematic, don't be surprised if you cause a problem by attaching your wiring to the backup lamp control circuit. Unless the company that made the kit tells you to use that circuit, chances are good that you can't. The TIPM is very sensitive to circuit load and the addition of the camera will likely increase the voltage drop across the circuit and the TIPM may have a reaction. In my Jeep Wrangler, there were all sorts of headaches dealing with that issue when doing some rather simple mods.

 

I installed a reverse camera on my 2012 R/T (6 speed). I put it in reverse so the reverse lights came on and checked voltages to the reverse lights. Found the +12v wire and ensured that the voltage was 0 v after taking it out of reverse.

I tapped off the +12 v and supplied it for the camera to use. It has been working fine for several years now. These little cameras don't pull any real current.

 

what color is the wire?

 

If you refer to the schematic that was posted, it would be white/green anywhere in the trunk harness or at the center backup light.
