For S&G's I checked the sound levels during cold start. Positioned approximately 8ft behind the car it showed a max of 110db at initial start then leveled off at 90-91db.

Did you check it before for comparison ?? (we know the answer here....lol)

That does sound good, but the drone would be a killer for me....

So you got the link to work? Cool! Did you like how I was drowning out chainsaws from across the street? Just my luck that the one time I'm going to do a video clip, the neighbor across the street has landscapers going nuts with chainsaws!
Bottom line, exhaust systems on our cars are quite possibly one of the most uniquely subjective items you will ever tackle. As nice as it is to have so many videos online trying to show the way any particular configuration of parts effects the sound coming from any particular car, I gotta say, they all but useless. I truly believe the ONLY way to be sure about a particular system is to actually listen to it in person. No easy task, and that's most likely why there are so many poorly configured exhaust systems running around on cars. People throw parts at their cars and then put up with the outcome. Some who can afford to, may even end up replacing their systems or at least parts of them over and over, eventually giving up when they either run out of money or land on s system that's at least doable for them. Lord knows, the way I did mine certainly wasn't cheap but IMO it's the only way that allowed me to get the sound I wanted and even that was a bit of a crap shoot! In retrospect, the smart move probably would've been to simply order and install the Flowmaster American Thunder system, which is essentially what we built anyway.

Yeah, it worked.......I thought it was weedeaters tho in the background.

And I agree, you need to hear the exhaust.....and even then the result may not be the same as you expected on your vehicle.

To be 100% honest, if you liked the video, you'd get chills from it in person!;)
It sounds wimpy in the video.

It was actually a tough call whether to go ahead with the rear muffler removal. It actually sounded pretty good with just the removal of the exhaust valves and the installation of the Flowmaster Super 40's and there was ZERO DRONE. I only opted to remove the rear mufflers because that's the configuration that Flowmaster uses in their factory replacement system. A couple years ago, I was trying to do an exhaust system on my 5.7 Durango and after a couple iterations I finally ended up basically building the Magnaflow factory replacement system and that finally gave me the best sound. This time around with the Challenger, I was hoping that things would go differently with Flowmaster components but as you can see, it basically went the same way as the Magnafow system. Bottom line, you should trust that the exhaust companies do their homework and their configuration is probably the best way to go.

Maybe it’s just me on a Saturday Afternoon with too much “Jack”
But I would think the engine wouldn’t even start if you removed the Exhaust Valves :)

    I know

LOL...to correct the Kat, active exhaust valves. I think that will be a winter project for me....which will soon be here I hate to say.
