When I had my Mustang I had a choice between an X-Pipe or H-Pipe on my cat-back system. The X-Pipe makes it real raspy like a foreign car but the H-Pipe gave it a low burble that was so much better. I'm getting ready to put the Flowmaster Outlaws on mine now (I live where we have no inspection stations) and have been searching for an H-Pipe but can't one. I also found the way to beat the drone was use Cruise Control, it takes it away immediately. If anyone knows about an H-Pipe please let me know.

The main reason X pipes replaced H pipes is they are more efficient. In other words, they make more power. Unfortunately, in doing so, they smooth out the exhaust flow and tone which moves it away from the old-school dual exhaust sound.

Back in about '76 .... I might have patched the H pipe on my '68 Charger R/T with a Folger's Coffee can and a couple of large hose clamps.

Don't get me started about some of the hair-brained rigs I did back when I was a kid.
