I've been searching for an H-Pipe to replace the resonator and allow me to do an axle-back Flowmaster Outlaw exhaust system. All I can find are X-Pipes for that import raspy sound and I don't care for that noise. Does anyone carry H-pipes or is the crappy X-Pipe all I can get? I don't have a local exhaust person to trust welding up a simple setup or I would do that.

well the resonators are in the rear on each side. in the trunk wheel wells. you should have a x pipe or some variation of it right past the mod pipes.

Your post is a little confusing in that an H-pipe mounts up front just after the headers but the resonators are all the way in the back on late model cars. Mopar did have resonators up front for a few years prior to moving them to the rear though. What year and model car are you working on?

I was hoping to remove the resonator in the wells and run straight pipes after the H-Pipe from the headers and have my axle-backs do the rear work. I will probably have to get some place that does custom work to eliminate all the places the engineers hide stuff.

Straight pipe no mufflers huh? Yeah I had that when I first bought my car. Was fine on the hi way but loud as hell in town. Finally put some magnaflows on it to stay within the good graces with the law.

I'm going Flowmaster Outlaws for the axle-backs, had them on my Mustang and loved them. I only drive local and learned that cruise control on the highway killed the drone. I go to the Atlanta Caffeine and Octane to listen to exhausts and after hearing tons of cars I know the sound I want, just need to find an exhaust shop to make what I need it looks like.

The FACTORY X-Pipe acts as a good DriveLine Loop

and more efficient than an old school H-Pipe
Ha, just found the pic and we have BOTH :)

Obviously won't pass Track Inspection, but better than nothing

Never seen a X and H pipe on the same car. I know Corsa offers a double helix X pipe (not sure why) but have no clue whether multiple cross-overs are a benefit or not.

I'm guessing your Mustang didn't drop into 4cyl mode.

If you have an automatic transmission ... and if your MDS is still active ... and you remove the rear resonators ... then you will have drone at cruising speed. I've been there.

I deleted the resonators on my 2011 Challenger R/T Classic and replaced the mid-mufflers with Borla Sports. Hated the drone!! I ended up putting the Mopar Performance Exhaust on it ... which in 2015 was the same as a Corsa Sport cat-back system. Better than stock back then. Probably about the same as stock on newer Challengers. And it wasn't the tone I was looking for. If I had kept the car, I would have put a Flowmaster cat-back system on it.

The cars that I've heard with just straight pipe are loud ... very loud ... but have no tone. To me, they sound mistuned.

Read @Katshot 's thread about modifying his exhaust system. He's also a Flowmaster fan and has done exactly what I would do to get that classic sound.

Try SOLO Performance, they built this for me.
This is their MR212-HJ Charger cat back that they remounted exhaust hangers for my 2015 Challenger, because in 2015 the exhaust mounts changed on the Challenger and they are the same from 2015 till today.

Picture below is their J Pipe drone Canceling which works very well, quiet in town idling and cruising, until you put your foot in it!

The H Pipe crossover sounds like American Muscle and also increases the bottom end performance. :) Ry

Edit: I started with Flowmaster American Thunder, the drone was horrible, so bad it rattled my dash at about 1,800rpm, then Changed to Magnaflow with the X Pipe crossover, sounded OK but hurt performance. Now I am running SOLO Performance, and have zero drone, but they don't have performance in their name for nothing, but you'll have to find that out for yourself.
