Air Bag Light & Another Odd Question

    AIr bag light and fishy smell

    This morning, I noticed a fishy smell in my 3 month old 2012 Challenger. I have not allowed anyone to eat in the car yet. On the way to work, as I pulled away from a traffic light, I heard a chime and the air bag warning light came on. It has stayed on since and the unusual smell has remained.

    Do you know where the smell is coming from? Can you pin point it?

    I'm having an air bag light problem also. Dealer looked at it & said it was a short on the passenger air bag & a new bag is on order. After leaving the dealership, I noticed the "Hill Assist" is not working anymore. :Frustrated:
    I also had an issue with the sunroof not wanting to close, but as soon as I take it to the dealer, it starts working again.
    Not too impressed with the reliability of this Dodge product! :Frustrated:

    Found this info searching because i had the same problem. Just had it fixed and so far so good. Hope it helps.


    Challenger airbag fix
    I see nobody posted to this thread but I would like to give this information here in case somebody does a search and this comes up I thought it may help to get your car fixed right on the first visit. Apparently there was a wire that needed to be replaced. From what I understood the wire that the airbag system uses to constantly communicate the status of the airbags gauge is too small this causing either too low or too high resistance (sorry I can't remember) and makes the airbag light turn on. So they replaced it with larger gauge wire and a different fuse. I got my car back Tuesday and it has been fine since then. Very happy with Baxter Dodge for the quick fix and good service after a small hiccup. I saw some people commenting about just taking out the light in the dash because they were sick of looking at it glowing, please don't do this, your airbags may not function in a crash and if you sell your vehicle the new buyer will never know that.

    Here is what my service ticket says if this helps anyone:
    3253 Found code 0049-7B Thorax Squib Passenger Side. Removed right seat and soldered wires together per star online case file S1110000001. Cleared codes found resistance normal now.

    same problem

    my passenger airbag light goes off and on too! Sometimes with a passenger and sometimes without!....and recently when i went to florida the tire pressure warning light came on and after a few miles went off again, did this several times...faulty sensors i'm guessing, will get the airbag sensor looked at on my next service date....:wtf2:

    I've had this problem 3 times now with my 2012 SXT Plus since I bought it in October. The first time they had to replace the airbags. The second time, they didn't really say what the problem what, just that it was fixed. It's at the dealer today for the third time. We'll see what they say. They gave me a free rental car (it's the least they can do!).

    UPDATE - dealer called and said they have to replace the wiring. It's not in stock so have to pick her up and bring her back later. It's so frustrating!

    Update Feb2013- light is on again. It goes on and off. I've given it a week to see if it's a fluke, but it keeps going on. I love my my car and this is really irritating.

    Air bag problems

    After having air bag light come repeatedly i took my 2012 Challenger RT to the dealer twice! They had to order/ replace my air bag control mod. Is mounted on firewall behind radio and they had to remove most of the dash to get to it.
