This dealership loves the Shaker package

I found my car at this GA dealership back in early November. They don't have the greatest reputation from what I've read so I had my local dealership get the car for me and I completed the transaction locally.
I tell you what. They still have an unreal selection of new 2020 Shaker R/T cars in their inventory. Most are around $40k after the discounts. I'll provide a link as it is cool to see so many at one place. It's almost like being in 1970 again when you could pick out any Challenger you like.

I can’t imagine buying one of those at those prices. You could easily have a Scat Pack at that price and you’re only a couple grand from a Widebody.

That's kind of insulting. I certainly did. I wanted a well optioned 5.7 Hemi R/T with the Shaker package and all the performance options that came with it. No wide body wanted and no Scat Pack wanted at all. Period. Not interested. The car I purchased was exactly what I would have ordered from the factory. I feel I did fine getting thousands off the list for the car. The Go Mango they still have is identical except for the sunroof (which I did not want). Not everyone desires a car that you may think is a best deal. Thank heavens Dodge offers a car for every taste.
Why such a negative reply to a fun thread I started to just enjoy some cool rides for sale.

Not meant to be insulting and I don’t believe it was. I was just saying that ‘I’ couldn’t imagine spending so much for the cars you posted links to. Am I supposed to know that those cars are apparently the same as yours? As the Challenger is first and foremost a “performance” car, it would follow that those buying one are interested in “performance”. Of course the exception would be the base model (6 cylinder) car. Staying with the V8 powered cars, I don’t see how it’s a stretch to say that most buyers want the best performance per dollar and that was the basis of my statement, which is of course only MY opinion.

Katshot's explanation is how a lot of us looked at muscle cars back in the day... all the money went toward power, not accessories. The first muscle cars I bought used in the 70's had no a/c, no power brakes, no power steering, etc. about 50% of them had manual trans.
I looked at the link you sent and viewed a few window stickers after I saw MSRP's of over $50K, I didn't know a R/T could be loaded up with that many options. But that's what makes the Challenger so cool. You can get one just the way you want it, not like most cars being sold now where you get to pick between three "packages" where you get what you get. Dodge got it right.

The main issue I have with optioning a standard R/T to such a point is that you end up spending Scat Pack money so why not get the Scat Pack? Face it, much of what you spent in options is standard on the Scat Pack and then there’s also some major stuff that is either standard or optional on the Scat Pack that you can’t even get on the standard R/T. Plus, with the Power Dollars incentive you get a much bigger discount with the 6.4 vs the 5.7 engine which helps to narrow the difference between the prices even more.

I had no reason to buy the V8 model so I bought the SXT Plus. Found out from a lot of V8 owners that unbeknownst to me, that’s the only Challenger model I could afford. Everyone is different and has their own opinions on what trim level is “best” or best for them. I’m not a fan of the shaker hood and wouldn’t buy one. A friend of mine says that’s the best style hood Dodge makes. Neither one of us is right or wrong. Just our opinion.

Back in the old days, I loved shaker hood cars. They not only looked cool but actually had better performance. Nowadays, shakers are only for looks and unfortunately offer REDUCED performance so they’re not for me. Can’t imagine spending a couple grand for something that actually reduces performance on my performance car.

^^^^ Still love Shaker hoods to this day. The Ford dealer installed the one on my Mustang when it was new to get the full cold air intake. Maybe it does nothing for performance but I sure love the looks and that's all that matters. It's a rather unique California Special with the Shaker and I've enjoyed it since new. Always a winner at the Ford car shows I attend. Fast?? No way, but I also can count the number of times I've floored it as well. That's not my style of driving, but when I do get in the mood, here in the mountain 'twisties', rowing through those 5 gears with 300 HP is PLENTY! Put the top down and it's like a thrill ride. The stock V8 exhaust note is sweet in the car as well. Not as impressive as the hemi note, but still sweet!
I feel the same way with the R/T. If you need the power, or get in that spirited driving mood, the power is there and it's 372 HP is PLENTY. The sport mode especially is just wonderful and I enjoy it immensely. Did I mention the exhaust sound. I can't believe it is stock. MAN!!! :emotions34:

The Shaker package on the R/T cost me $2,585. Besides the Shaker hood, intake and decal, the package also included white faced instrument cluster with gloss black rings, the black rear spoiler, the Challenger script grill badge, the black fuel filler door, and the gloss black grill. ALL of the items were very desirable to me, and obviously others or Dodge wouldn't offer the package. The black R/T stripes on the sides were also a must to break up that Go Mango which can be a little intense on it's own without the black accents.
The two Shaker cars sit happily in my garage. I hope I can get the same years of enjoyment out of this R/T that I do with my others.

I think your friend is very wise!! :hahano:

I also highlighted the best part of your post. You nailed it, as did Dodge.
