How does the Mopar cold air stack up against some of the others?it looks to be $100 more than say as K/N . They look good. I would pay the extra money as long as the performance was the same and quality and sound were similar

I have the Mopar CAI on my 2009 SRT. It is made by AEM and is a dry (washable) filter. I bought it for looks, sound and ease of cleaning. The stock OEM air filters are pretty efficient, so don't expect any power boost. I stayed away from the K & N because I didn't want a filter that has to be re-oiled.

I went with the JLT this time (I had a Mustang with the Airaid) and because I don't put a lot of miles and the weather here is pretty good year round so I chose the dry normal filter over the oiled ones. Sounds great, looks good. On a side note the dealer tells me the color difference on the nose is from it being plastic versus metal but I swear it's a whole other color filter2.jpg Filter.jpg

I placed a water repellant pre-filter on mine.

Why do you need a pre-filter? Just to extend the time to clean the filter?

Mine is a limited edition 50th R/T w/drivers side air catcher. Mainly for the added assurance that no water gets into the filter, but yes... it does keep fine particulates from penetrating the filter media as well.

I have one ordered for the aFe intake. The HC hood has the large vent over the filter area. Not that I plan on driving in the rain so I plan to keep it in the glove box just in case
