SRT-Tom submitted a new Article: Electric and Hydrogen-Powered Cars Read more about this article here...
Nice article Tom. It give a good summary of the two alternatives. I still question the overall effectiveness of full electric vs gas or some other fuel based technology. The government is pushing electric to reduce emissions to get us to 100% "green". Most consumers will agree that it makes sense because electric cars have no emissions. However, the cost of electricity isn't cheap, the range isn't there yet, it takes too long to charge and the electricity comes from plants that are producing emissions. Has anyone explained what will happen to all the battery cells once they go dead or are defective? I'm not sold on 'em yet and hope I can drive my combustion vehicles for a few decades. I guess a lot will depend on when the last new gas-powered vehicle will be sold... and gas available at the pump. Just IMO...
I've raced electric "toy" cars for a long time so I know EVs can be crazy fast. But without the sound of a thumping V8, it just won't be the same. Perhaps some future generation will feel the same way about the whirr of an electric motor. Of course ... just about the time that all of these manufacturers embrace EVs, the development of synthetic fuel is moving forward and might allow combustion engines to continue.
