Just heard from the dealer on this and Chrysler claims it’s normal. If they can show me another one doing the same thing fine but actually it’s not fine because anything banging against something as in this case can’t be good. Thing is no one actually physically looked at this car to see if everything is tight. The dealer immediately contacted Chrysler . Chrysler went right to the characteristic of the vehicle bin. Must say I still love driving this car ! Kind of redeems itself a bit . Bill Sebastian Florida

    YOU-TUBE it!
Publicly shame them. If you could do it in their Parking lot it would even be better.

These days, just the threat of a Viral Video may change their attitude.

As much as I H8 Social Media, might as well use it to our advantage?
Why would you pay $30k and not be happy?

Liam, your other post on this issue says you have the parking brake applied, this post doesn't mention that.
Have you tried starting with and without the parking brake applied? It could be a noise caused by the brake pad against the brake rotor.
Personally, I'd still find one yourself at another dealership and see for yourself. Getting a second opinion from another dealer couldn't hurt either. It just sucks that you have to spend so much of your time trying to resolve this ON A NEW CAR. Especially if no one from the zone office even looked at the car.

Study up on the Florida lemon law:

Keep this well documented. Lay a solid paper trail in writing to and from whoever you deal with.

Yes, when I park and apply the parking brake then put it in park it clunks on start up. . If I put it in park without the parking brake with the weight of the car on the drivetrain, no noise nothing. My problem is to date haven’t heard from anyone else with a 21 SXT having the same issue. Having a major meeting tomorrow at the dealership. Giving them three choices, Show me another one that has this problem, Get me another car, or give me a refund. Don’t want a refund, really like this car otherwise. Appreciate everyone’s input . Bill

Do you have an automatic or manual trans? (if an auto, just curious why you're using the parking brake... steep hill?) I assume the dealer mechanics know its only when the parking brake is used. (???) there's a few more variables at play, the brake pad, cables, etc.
    Good luck!

Yeah, unfortunately they don’t offer a manual transmission with the 6cyl. Thanks again to everyone. Bill

Final deposition on this clunking on start up , was back at the dealer on 5/26. Car was placed on an alignment rack. They showed me play in the driveshaft, claiming that’s what’s causing the noise . Then, after they started the car , the noise clearly came towards the front of the transmission. Then, they said it play in the tranny. Total bullshit. Also, as the car is downshifting, you can hear the clunking from the rear. This is all documented by the dealership. Now, Chrysler expects me to accept all this as normal. I have yet to date, throughout all my research found another 2021 SXT with this problem. Also, as a bonus , while the car was in the dealerships custody my passenger door was treated to a small dent. So, I filed for a hearing requesting a replacement vehicle. Bill.

Ouch! Sorry you're having so much trouble, shouldn't be that way. Good luck, keep us informed.
